Job summary

HELLA India Automotive Pvt Ltd. in Chennai seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for automotive lighting and related parts.

You will develop mechanical designs, qualify components, verify designs with simulations and tolerance calculations, and contribute to cost and BOM management. You will coordinate with the patent instructor, participate in design reviews, evaluate design verification results, support FMEA, and ensure dimensional requirements for parts and assemblies are met.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Tool and Die Engineering or Post Diploma in Plastic Mold Design (CIPET) or Post Diploma in relevant Tool and Die (NTTF).
• BE/ B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8–14 years in automotive lighting related part design experience with CATIA V5.
• Mold flow communicator experience may added advantage.
• Knowledge in MS PowerPoint, Excel etc.
• Proficient in English communication (oral and written).

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design articles and components.
• Qualify components and verify mechanical design articles (simulations, tolerance calculations).
• Assign the Patent Instructor to analyze the patent situation.
• Conduct involvement and definition meetings.
• Evaluate Mechanical Design-Requirements and create MD Performance specification.
• Initiate product costs calculation and BOM change communication.
• Define/plan mechanical design verification samples and participate in DFMEA inputs.
• Provide data for evaluations and conduct feasibility studies.
• Define dimensional requirements for parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies.
• Consider general technical rules during design.

YOUR TASKS

• To develop mechanical design article
• To qualify Components
• To verify mechanical design article (simulations, tolerance calculations, etc.)
• To assign the Patent Instructor to analyses the patent situation
• To perform involvement and definition meeting
• To evaluate Mechanical Design-Requirements
• To create MD Performance specification
• To initiate the product costs calculation
• To define/plan Mechanical Design verification sample
• To inform the core team about BOM changes and cost-related changes
• To support FMEA and include the results in the design
• To evaluate design verification results from the sample creation
• To provide data for the evaluation
• To perform the characteristic-based feasibility study
• To define dimensional requirements for the single parts, sub-assemblies, and complete device
• To consider the general technical rules

Your Qualifications

• Diploma in Tool and Die Engineering / Post Diploma in Plastic Mold Design/ Diploma in Plastics Mold Making (CIPET) / Post Diploma in relevant Tool and Die (NTTF)
• BE/ B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering
• 8-14 Years in Automotive Lighting Related Part Design Experience with CATIA V5
• Mold flow communicator experience may added advantage
• Knowledge in MS Power Point, Excel etc.
• Should be proficient enough in English Communication (oral and written)
