Job summary

GLA University is seeking a Lab Technician to oversee the Computer Lab and provide essential IT support to students, faculty and staff.

The role involves maintaining lab systems, assisting with practical classes and exams, and coordinating with IT vendors to resolve issues while upholding IT security policies.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 1–3 years of lab IT experience; freshers considered.
• Ability to install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the computer lab and ensure systems are functional.
• Install, configure and troubleshoot computers, software, printers, projectors and other IT equipment.
• Provide first-level IT support for hardware, software, LAN/Wi-Fi, and peripherals.
• Maintain records of IT assets, equipment, repairs and inventory.
• Assist faculty and students during practical classes and exams, and coordinate with IT team for unresolved issues.
• Ensure compliance with IT security and University policies.

Job Description – Lab Technician (Computer Lab & IT Support)

Position: Lab Technician

Department: IT / Computer Lab

Reporting To: IT Manager / Lab In-Charge

Job Purpose

To ensure the smooth functioning and maintenance of computer labs and provide basic IT support to students, faculty, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the computer lab and ensure all systems are functional.
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot computers, software, printers, projectors, and other IT equipment.
• Provide first-level IT support for hardware, software, LAN/Wi-Fi, and peripheral-related issues.
• Maintain records of IT assets, equipment, repairs, and inventory.
• Support faculty and students during practical classes, examinations, and academic activities.
• Coordinate with the IT team/vendors for unresolved technical issues.
• Ensure compliance with IT security and University policies.

Qualification & Experience

• Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of experience in computer lab management or IT support preferred.
• Freshers with relevant technical skills may also be considered.
