Job description

TeleBortiX is building state-of-the-art airborne systems.

You will design the mechanical hardware that holds our aircraft together and the equipment that lets us build and test them — airframe structures, mechanisms, enclosures, mounts, and integration hardware on the product side; test rigs, fixtures, tooling, and ground support equipment on the machinery side. You'll take parts and assemblies from concept through to production-ready CAD, drawings, and hand-off to manufacturing.

This is a hands-on design role with real engineering depth. You will own your designs end to end: the geometry, the tolerances, the load paths, the manufacturability, and the DFMEA. You will scope and review vendor work on detailed CAD and fabrication, and you will be in the loop from first sketch through bench integration.

This role interfaces across TeleBortiX's product line and sits alongside our powertrain, aero, materials, and manufacturing leads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design airframe structures, mechanisms, enclosures, brackets, and integration hardware for our airborne platforms — concept through production-ready models and dimensioned drawings.
  • Design machinery and equipment: bench-test rigs, assembly and integration fixtures, tooling, and ground support equipment.
  • Own parts and assemblies end to end — geometry, tolerance stack-ups (GD&T), mass properties, load paths, and design for manufacture and assembly across composites, sheet metal, machined, and additive parts.
  • Run and interpret structural analysis (hand calcs and FEA); iterate designs against strength, stiffness, weight, and cost targets.
  • Support prototyping, bench integration, and iteration — build it, test it, learn, revise.
  • Produce and maintain clean drawing packages, BOMs, and configuration/version control.
  • Scope and review vendor and contractor work on detailed CAD and fabrication.
  • Own the mechanical DFMEA and contribute to design reviews.
  • Interface with the Powertrain lead (motor mounts, battery and enclosure mounting, thermal packaging), the Aerodynamics lead (aerostructures, control surfaces), the Materials & Processes lead (composites, thermal composites), and the Manufacturing & Test lead (integration, qualification).

Requirements

Candidates should meet four of the six criteria below to apply.

  • Formal engineering qualification in Mechanical, Aerospace, or a related field — OR demonstrated equivalent technical capability through portfolio, published work, or prior shipped hardware.
  • Experience designing and shipping mechanical hardware. We’re open across levels: a strong recent graduate with a serious portfolio and a senior engineer with a decade of production work are both encouraged to apply — make your level clear and let the work speak.
  • You have owned at least one part or assembly from concept through to manufacture, deployment, or customer hand-off.
  • Proficiency in a major 3D CAD environment ([SolidWorks / CATIA / Creo / NX]) with the ability to draft to standard (ASME Y14.5 or ISO), and comfort running FEA for sizing and validation.
  • Genuine ownership mindset — you scope, design, prototype, test, and iterate; you don't wait to be told what to do next.
  • Hands‑on experience with lightweight structures, composites, or aerospace / UAV mechanical hardware — OR transferable depth from automotive, motorsport, robotics, or precision machinery.

Note: Candidates whose skills or qualifications fall short of the criteria above may still apply if their interests are strongly aligned with TeleBortiX’s vision. Make the case in your application note.

Strongly preferred

  • Composites and lightweight‑structures design (layup, bonded joints, metal‑to‑composite interfaces).
  • Drafting Skills
  • Aerospace or UAV experience — fixed‑wing or multi‑rotor airframe, mechanism, or integration hardware.
  • FEA depth ([Ansys / Nastran / Abaqus]) — static, modal, and basic fatigue.
  • Design for manufacture across several processes: CNC machining, sheet metal, injection moulding, additive, and composite layup.
  • Mechanism and actuation design — deployment, articulation, control‑surface linkages, latching.
  • Fluent GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Test‑rig, fixture, and ground‑support‑equipment design (the machinery side of the role).
  • Secondary depth in an adjacent cluster — thermal, materials, or manufacturing. Every engineer here owns one primary cluster and a credible secondary.
