Job summary

Burckhardt Compression in Pune, India seeks a seasoned Value Engineering lead to drive VE studies for compressor parts. You will cooperate with Engineering, Product Management and Category Managers to apply VE plans from preparation to implementation, lead workshops, and coordinate cross-disciplinary teams.

You will prepare reports, define cost baselines, identify use cases and present findings to decision makers, while ensuring alignment on targets and project KPIs. Travel up to 20% is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduation or postgraduate degree in Mechanical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in design, manufacture or service/repair of compressors/rotating equipment and VE.
• Familiarity with VE methodology and international standards (API, ASME, ASTM).
• Basic knowledge of Master Data and SAP transactions.
• Knowledge of Value Engineering principles.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% of time.
• Proficiency in MS Office and PowerBI.
• Knowledge of German is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Value Engineering studies for compressor parts in collaboration with Engineering, Product Management and Category Managers.
• Apply Value Engineering Job Plan from preparation to implementation.
• Prepare and lead VE workshops with ideation to list cost saving initiatives.
• Support brainstorming sessions with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Perform cost analysis to define cost baseline and identify use cases.
• Engage stakeholders to discuss insights, savings opportunities and targets.
• Motivate team members to participate in VE sessions.
• Produce final VE study documents including reports, costs, recommendations.
• Provide clarifications to decision makers during the decision process.
• Lead execution of VE projects approved by Management.
• Prepare project charter, closure, reports, KPI tracking and planning.
• Define goals and actions, estimate time and resources.
• Communicate clearly with empathy and understanding.
• Report progress and blockers to stakeholders and VE Global Manager.
• Track impact of VE initiatives vs targets and take corrective actions.
• Attend follow-up sessions with Management as required.
• Support processes implementation and interface definition across Systems Division.
• Drive VE process with suppliers and third parties.

Main responsibilities and tasks:

• Lead Value Engineering studies related to bare compressor parts and commodities in close cooperation with Engineering, Product Management, Category Managers.


• Apply Value Engineering Job Plan, from Preparation to Implementation.


• Prepare, lead and moderate Value Engineering workshops with ideation session to generate a list of potential cost saving initiatives.


• Support and arrange brainstorming sessions with multi-disciplinary team.


• Perform cost analysis to define the Cost baseline of parts or commodity and identify use cases.


• Establish close relationship and a safe environment with project stakeholder to discuss insights, savings opportunities and align on targets.


• Encourage and motivate team member to actively participate to the Value Engineering sessions.


• Produce the necessary documents for the Presentation of Value Engineering study results, including final report with costs evaluation, recommendations, and finalization of the study.


• Provide clarifications and assistance to decision makers during decision making process.


• Lead the execution of Value Engineering Projects approved by Management.


• Prepare project charter, project closure, regular reports, KPI tracking and planning for the assigned projects.


• Clearly defines project goals and the actions required to accomplish them; considers possible changes, constraints or other obstacles that might impact project plans; accurately estimates time and resources need to accomplish project tasks.


• Effective communication and learning the skills to exchange information with clarity, empathy, and understanding.


• Report on progress and roadblock to project stakeholders and Value Engineering Global Manager.


• Track actual impact of value engineering initiatives vs target, added value, cost saving, OTD and identify corrective actions when needed.


• Attend follow up sessions with Management when required.


• Support for processes implementation and the interfaces definition across the Systems Division of Burckhardt Compression.


• Drive forward the Value Engineering Process with suppliers and 3rd party.

Education, Experience and Languages:

• Graduation / Post Graduation in Mechanical or similar.


• At least 5-year experience in design, manufacture and service/repair of compressors / rotating equipment, thermodynamics, VE.


• Familiar with VE methodology, international standard (i.e. API, ASME, ASTM), Project Management.


• Basic know-how of Master Data and SAP transactions.


• Knowledge of Value Engineering principles.


• Ability to travel up to 20% in work schedule.


• MS Office and PowerBI.


• Knowledge of German will be an added advantage.
