Job summary

Burckhardt Compression AG in Pune, India, seeks a Senior Leader to head Value Engineering within the GSC, overseeing VE project managers, process cost engineers and strategizing resource allocation.

You will drive VE initiatives across compressors and supply chain, align with senior management, and foster stakeholder relationships across regions. A strong track record in VE and SAP/Power BI is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation/PG in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• At least 10 years in design, manufacturing, procurement, service, Value Engineering or cost engineering in compressors/rotating equipment.
• Advanced knowledge of Value Engineering, Value Analysis, Should-Costing and Product Cost Management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Value Engineering team in GSC with Project Managers and Cost Engineers.
• Define team objectives, priorities and resource allocation aligned with VE roadmap.
• Manage global VE project portfolio, ensure selection, prioritization and execution.
• Ensure consistent VE methodologies, tools, standards and governance across projects.
• Drive VE initiatives across compressors, systems, commodities and supply chain with Engineering, Product Management and Procurement.
• Engage senior management on VE targets and implementation priorities.
• Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships across Divisions and Regions.
• Review project assumptions, business cases and cost analyses to maximize value.
• Promote a culture of innovation, cost consciousness and continuous improvement.
• Develop VE best practices, standards, templates and digital tools.
• Support should-costing capabilities, cost models and cost databases.
• Identify VE opportunities via data analytics, benchmarking, lifecycle reviews and market intel.
• Monitor VE program performance and realization of savings.
• Lead portfolio reviews, reporting and Steering Committee presentations.
• Coach and develop team members, supporting career growth.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and performance evaluations for VE personnel.
• Promote adoption of AI tools and digital solutions to improve VE effectiveness.
• Collaborate with suppliers and partners to identify value opportunities.
• Lead strategic VE programs and cross-functional initiatives as required.

Main responsibilities and tasks

• Lead and develop the Value Engineering team in GSC, including Value Engineering Project Managers, Senior Value Engineering Project Managers and Process Cost Engineers.
• Define team objectives, priorities and resource allocation in alignment with the Value Engineering roadmap and business strategy.
• Build, manage and maintain the global Value Engineering project portfolio, ensuring appropriate project selection, prioritization and execution.
• Ensure consistent application of Value Engineering methodologies, tools, standards and governance across all projects.
• Drive Value Engineering initiatives across compressors, systems, commodities and supply chain activities in close cooperation with Engineering, Product Management, Procurement, Manufacturing and Service.
• Facilitate alignment with senior management regarding Value Engineering targets, opportunities and implementation priorities.
• Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across Divisions, Functions and Regions.
• Review and challenge project assumptions, business cases, cost analyses and implementation plans to maximize value creation.
• Promote a culture of innovation, cost consciousness and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
• Develop and maintain Value Engineering best practices, standards, templates and digital tools.
• Support the development and deployment of should-costing capabilities, cost models, cost databases and analytical methodologies.
• Identify and develop future Value Engineering opportunities through data analytics, benchmarking, product lifecycle reviews and market intelligence.
• Monitor and report Value Engineering program performance, ensuring realization of approved savings and value improvements.
• Lead regular portfolio reviews, management reporting and Steering Committee presentations.
• Coach, mentor and develop team members, supporting career growth, competency development and succession planning.
• Support recruitment, onboarding and performance evaluations of Value Engineering personnel.
• Promote the adoption of AI tools, automation and digital solutions to improve Value Engineering effectiveness and efficiency.
• Collaborate with suppliers, external partners and consultants to identify and execute value improvement opportunities.
• Lead strategic Value Engineering programs and special cross-functional initiatives as required.

Education, Experience and Languages:

• Graduation / Post-Graduation in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• At least 10 years of experience in design, manufacturing, procurement, service, Value Engineering or cost engineering within compressors, rotating equipment or comparable industrial products.
• Advanced knowledge of Value Engineering, Value Analysis, Should-Costing and Product Cost Management methodologies.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing processes, commodities, procurement and supply chain management.
• Proven experience in project portfolio management and complex cross-functional project execution.
• Strong business and financial acumen with the ability to evaluate investment cases and value creation opportunities.
• Advanced knowledge of SAP, Power BI, AI tools and Microsoft Office applications.
• Certification in Value Engineering (SAVE, VAVE or equivalent) and/or Project Management (PMP or equivalent) is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of work schedule.
