Job summary

RGBSI seeks a Component Engineer in Chennai for night shift (6 PM–3 AM) to support sustaining engineering, COTS part qualification and component data management in PLM/PDM. You will help identify reliable components and ensure documentation accuracy.

You will collaborate with design, manufacturing and QA teams to optimize part selection, availability and cost while complying with relevant standards such as RoHS/REACH and IPC. This role requires strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of detailed manufacturing process and end-to-end parameters of Electrical/Electromechanical components.
  • Experience reading schematics and using electronic testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of PCBA, BOM levels, and semiconductor components.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Sustaining Engineering support to Product groups across team.
  • Identify key technical parameters for Electrical and Electrical COTS parts.
  • Identify interchangeable or similar Electrical and Electrical parts during qualification of COTS parts.
  • Authorize technical specification sheets for COTS parts.
  • Standardize technical content of COTS parts in spec sheets.
  • Ensure dimensional accuracy of COTS parts in PDM.
  • Participate in component selection and reliability analyses.
  • Support design engineering in identification/qualification of components.
  • Identify and qualify second sources for material availability and cost reduction.
  • Maintain Preferred Parts Database for component changes.
  • Develop and execute component evaluation and qualification tests.
  • Contribute to DFMEA during design reviews.
  • Perform alternate component search and produce comparison reports.
  • Ensure internal part numbers and descriptions are correct.
  • Generate internal standards for component selection.
  • Liaise with QA and purchasing on component issues.
  • Guide Component Library on specs/dimensions as needed.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and supply chain on component issues.

Component Engineer
Shift: Night Shift 6PM to 3AM
Eligibility Criteria

Years of Experience: 2-5Years

Educational qualification: Graduate in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic like EEE, ECE, EIE)

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide Sustaining Engineering support to Product groups across team.
  • Responsible for identification of key technical parameters for Electrical and Electrical COTS (Commercially Off the Shelf) parts.
  • Responsible for identification of interchangeable or similar Electrical and Electrical part during qualification of any electrical COTS part.
  • Authorize technical specification sheets written for COTS parts.
  • Responsible for standardizing the technical content of COTS parts in the specification sheets.
  • Responsible for dimensional accuracy of the COTS parts maintained in PDM.
  • Involve in all aspects of component engineering, including circuit analysis and design support which involves Component Selection including technical analysis, reliability of component, availability and Component cost.
  • Support Design Engineering in identification and qualification of Electrical/Electromechanical components.
  • Initiate and lead efforts to identify and qualify second sources for material availability, cost reduction and reliability improvement.
  • Maintain Preferred Parts Database across for any component changes.
  • Develop and execute component evaluation, acceptance and qualification test plans.
  • Provide inputs on component selection to New designs to improve product reliability by participating in design reviews and DFMEA.
  • Perform Alternate component search and provide a detailed Component comparison report and should be a self-decision maker on component attributes.
  • Ensure all existing and new internal part numbers and descriptions are correct.
  • Generate internal standards (Preferred Part) related to component selection.
  • Liaise with quality assurance and purchasing departments on component related issues.
  • Liaise with Component Library team to guide on component specification and dimensions as needed.
  • Liaise with Manufacturing and supply chain and work on Component related problem reports in solving and implementing.
Mandatory Skills required to performing the job
  • Understanding of detailed manufacturing process and end to end parameters of Electrical/ Electromechanical components such as Connectors, Cables, Fuses, Relays, Switches, Mass flow controllers, RF generators, Sensors, Adapters/Filters, Integrated circuits, Terminal Blocks, Motors, Cable Assemblies, other PCBA Components etc.
  • Have experience in reading schematics for circuit designs and be able to use industry standard electronic testing equipments. Knowledge of Connecters and Cables, Electronics components such as Active (Semiconductor IC’s, Transistors) and Passive Devices. Familiar with Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA), Bill of Material levels and good knowledge of Semiconductor industry.
  • Expert knowledge in component parameters and it’s significant impact on product performance.
  • Experience in Electrical/Electronics/Electromechanical component selection analysis.
  • Knowledge of Electrical CAD library activities & PLM on change management process
  • Knowledge of product life cycle stages of COTS part in PLM and PDM.
  • Knowledge of Component Classification and ownership, Component data check.
  • Communicate with product groups regarding duplicate parts/Preferred parts.
  • In depth knowledge on various commodities, manufacturer sites and ability to locate component based on specification given.
  • In depth knowledge on decision making of component parameters when two components given

  • Experience with PLM, Library management and Various Industry standards such RoHS, REACH, UL, CE, CSA, IPC, SEMI etc.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and design environments.
  • Cross functional team experience is highly preferred.
