Job summary

Vedanta Oil & Gas in India is seeking a Completion Engineer to optimize well performance, plan field development, and design completions. You will validate designs, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and drive cost‑effective well operations. Experience across stimulation, artificial lift, and reservoir surveillance is preferred.

The role focuses on delivering safe, reliable production enhancements while ensuring robust technical governance through design reviews and project planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in Production Technology, Well Engineering, Reservoir Management, or Well Completions.
• Strong expertise in well modelling, completion design, well intervention, artificial lift systems, reservoir surveillance, and production optimization.

Responsibilities

• Modelling wells to optimize production and performance.
• Field Development Planning.
• Prepare BOWD and well completion programme.
• Optimize well performance and manage well intervention operations (coiled tubing, slickline, E-line).
• Collaborate with geoscience, facilities and well engineering teams.
• Prepare annual work plans and budgets for reservoir management.
• Participate with Production Technology on optimization projects.
• Review Well Programs prior to approval.
• Review Basis of Well Design from the Execution Contractor.
• Ensure metallurgy and strength of completion and wellhead equipment.
• Suggest review of completion brine composition.
• Review perforation strategy for reservoir connectivity.
• Suggest/Review artificial lift designs for appraisal wells.
• Validate Prosper/WellCat models used for BOWD.
• Suggest changes to maximize productivity and fast delivery.
• Submit review reports with all revisions.

The incumbent will be responsible for optimizing well performance, field development planning, well completion design, and well intervention operations to maximize production and reservoir recovery. The role will provide technical assurance through the review and validation of well designs, completion strategies, and engineering programs while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective well operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Modelling wells to optimize production and improved well performance.
• Field Development Planning.
• Prepare BOWD, Well completion programme and daily operations.
• Optimize well performance and manage well intervention operations including coiled tubing, slick line and E-line.
• Integrating with geoscience, facilities and well engineering teams to improve well performance.
• Prepare annual work plan and budgets for well reservoir management operations based on planned reservoir surveillance, production/injection enhancement and optimization requirements etc.
• Actively participate and collaborate with Production Technology team in planning for projects aimed at production/injection optimization and enhancement.
• Review Well Programs prior to approval.
• Review and validate the Basis of Well Design submitted by the Execution Contractor and make recommendation to the company along with the rationale/ basis of recommendation at all decision points/ gates.
• Ensure proper metallurgy and strength selection of the completion and wellhead equipment's for both the exploration and appraisal phase.
• Suggest/Review composition and characteristics of completion brine.
• Suggest/Review perforation strategy to ensure appropriate connectivity with reservoir.
• Suggest/Review artificial lift design for appraisal wells. (Good to have skills in AL, Frac or/and Stimulation).
• Validate the models and software (Prosper, WellCat, etc or equivalent) used for BOWD. Review in depth the designing philosophy, inputs, mythology etc. used for preparing designs.
• Suggest changes so as to ensure maximum productivity and fastest delivery.
• Submit review reports including all revisions.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in Production Technology, Well Engineering, Reservoir Management, or Well Completions within the Oil & Gas industry.
• Strong expertise in well modelling, completion design, well intervention, artificial lift systems, reservoir surveillance, and production optimization.
