Job summary

PharmSight invites a Competitive Intelligence Consultant to join our rapidly growing bio-pharma advisory team. You will monitor markets, pipelines and regulatory developments, turning data into actionable insights for global clients. You’ll present findings, attend conferences, and support strategy across therapeutic areas.

Ideal candidates hold a PhD/Master’s in a scientific field or MBA, with 2–3 years in pharma/consulting and strong CI tool experience. Flexible work options offered.

Qualifications

• PhD or Master’s Degree in a scientific field, or an MBA.
• 2–3 years of experience in pharma or a consulting environment, ideally CI or strategy analytics.
• Deep knowledge across at least two therapy areas.

Responsibilities

• Monitor competitive landscape for marketed products, pipelines, regulatory and epidemiology information.
• Convert data into actionable intelligence to guide client decisions.
• Attend conferences, conduct primary/secondary research, and prepare post-conference reports.
• Present findings to clients and cross-functional teams, shaping strategies across commercial, regulatory and clinical functions.
• Prepare company, market and drug profiles and newsletters with implications.
• Track investor updates from reports and presentations.
• Engage with team members through presentations and knowledge-sharing sessions.

Role Overview

As a Competitive Intelligence Consultant, you will proactively monitor the competitive landscape for both marketed products and pipeline assets, converting data into actionable intelligence that guides crucial decisions for our clients. You’ll attend key conferences, conduct in-depth secondary research, and maintain a strong understanding of commercial, regulatory, and clinical domains to support diverse project needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with project team members to understand, refine and prioritize their research needs
• Collaborate with clients to clarify objectives, present findings, and shape strategies across commercial, regulatory, and clinical functions
• Track and analyse market, company, clinical trial, regulatory and epidemiology information on key therapy areas
• Provide coverage on key competitors, deals, trial timelines, launch timelines, future catalysts, etc.
• Prepare company profiles, market profiles and drug profiles
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly newsletters with implications
• Track company investor updates from annual reports, SEC filings and investor presentations
• Attend approximately 4–5 medical conferences annually to cover sessions, conduct primary research, capturing key takeaways, and develop comprehensive post-conference reports .
• Analyze competitive findings to extract key insights, interpret their strategic implications (‘so what’), and translate them into clear, actionable recommendations using logical frameworks to structure data
• Experience in working on databases like Alphasense, Pharmatell, Citeline etc.
• Conduct ad-hoc deep-dives to uncover emerging trends, market dynamics, and threats/opportunities for client portfolios
• Engage regularly with team members through formal presentations and informal on-the-job training to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration

Requirements

• Education: PhD or Master’s Degree in a scientific field, or an MBA
• Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of progressive work experience in pharma or a consulting environment, ideally in competitive intelligence or strategy/analytics
• Therapeutic Knowledge: Deep expertise in at least two different therapy areas
• Analytical Tools: Familiarity with standard CI data sources (e.g., Citeline, Pharmatell, Alphasense) and clinical/ regulatory websites (FDA, EMA, Health Canada, etc.)
