Job Title: Compensation Manager - India, APAC and Japan
Job Summary
Role Overview: Were seeking a Compensation Manager to act as the subject matter expert and lead for compensation programs across India, APAC, and Japan. In this high-impact role, youll own regional compensation analysis, drive execution of key programs, and influence strategy - partnering directly with HR Business Partners, COEs, People Services, Finance, and business leaders. Working with a high degree of autonomy, youll take general direction from management and independently drive complex, unstructured projects through to completion.
Compensation Analysis & Strategy
- Lead market pricing, benchmarking, salary structures, and pay recommendations across India, APAC, and Japan, using external surveys to assess competitiveness and anticipate trends.
- Solve complex compensation problems using broad expertise and independent judgment; recommend best practices that improve processes and policies.
- Lead internal and pay equity analyses, surfacing risks and insights to leadership; contribute to future compensation strategy.
Annual Programs & Regional Support
- Own regional execution of annual merit, bonus, and equity/LTI cycles, partnering with Workday Team and People Services to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Serve as the primary compensation partner for local markets, accounting for statutory requirements, local practices, and cultural nuances.
- Advise on compensation for new hires, promotions, internal moves, and organizational changes.
Data, Systems & Governance
- Maintain data integrity within Workday; build and enhance reports, dashboards, and analytical tools.
- Drive process improvement through automation and standardization.
- Ensure adherence to global compensation policies, governance standards, and local requirements, with sound documentation and audit trails.
Global Projects & Initiatives
- Serve as an SME on - and where appropriate, lead - global compensation and Total Rewards projects, contributing regional expertise and helping drive consistent, scalable solutions beyond the region.
Other
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support evolving business and Total Rewards needs.
About You
- Bachelors degree in HR, Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.
- Minimum 8 years of compensation/Total Rewards experience with specialized depth in compensation practices, policies, and technologies.
- Experience supporting compensation in India and/or broader APAC; Japan experience highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and advanced spreadsheet proficiency across Google Sheets and Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis); experience with compensation survey data and market-pricing methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and advise senior stakeholders across countries and time zones.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in a global technology, SaaS, cybersecurity, or high-growth organization.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides) and Workday (or similar HRIS); survey providers such as Aon/Radford.
- Familiarity with job architecture, incentive programs, and leading annual merit/bonus/equity cycles.
- Knowledge of compensation regulations across multiple APAC countries.
