Workplace Platform team
The Workplace Platform Team act as a key technology partner for Microsoft 365 collaboration capabilities, productivity platforms, governance, adoption and secure digital solutions across the organisation:
- Lead and support Microsoft 365 collaboration, productivity, automation and employee experience use cases.
- Partner with IT product owners and platform teams to ensure standards are followed across Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Copilot, security, compliance and collaboration platforms.
- Support innovation, adoption and governance across Microsoft 365, Power Platform and Copilot capabilities.
- Maintain strong relationships with business stakeholders, IT architecture, security, service operations, vendors and Microsoft 365 delivery teams.
The Role
As the Unified Communications Architect, you will own the strategy, architecture, standards, roadmap and lifecycle management for Dyson's real-time collaboration and communications ecosystem, with a core focus on Microsoft Teams collaboration, Teams Phone, Teams Rooms, Exchange Online and wider unified communications integration.
Reporting to the Head of IT Workplace, you will act as the global technical authority for communication, collaboration and meeting room technologies, ensuring solutions remain secure, scalable, supportable and aligned with business needs.
You will define and govern architecture standards, lead platform innovation, manage technology obsolescence and drive the evolution of UC services across the organisation. Working closely with managed service providers, workplace technology teams, network, security, facilities and business stakeholders, you will ensure Teams, voice, rooms, messaging and adjacent communication services provide a consistent, secure and modern collaboration experience for employees globally.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own the global Unified Communications and real-time collaboration strategy and roadmap across Teams collaboration, Teams Phone, Teams Rooms, Exchange Online and related communication platforms.
- Define and maintain architecture standards, design principles and governance processes.
- Act as the technical design authority for Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, Teams Rooms, AV, conferencing, messaging and workplace communication solutions.
- Lead platform lifecycle management, including technology refresh, upgrade planning and obsolescence management.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and drive innovation across communication and collaboration services.
- Define integration patterns for Teams Phone, PSTN connectivity, contact‑centre platforms, session border controllers, Exchange Online and wider UC services.
- Own global standards for meeting rooms, conference spaces, event spaces and AV technology.
- Provide technical leadership for new office builds, refurbishments and workplace transformation initiatives.
- Serve as the highest level escalation point for complex technical issues and major incidents where vendor support requires expert guidance.
- Work closely with managed service providers to ensure service quality, technical compliance and successful delivery.
- Contribute to business cases, technology investment plans, cost estimates and future capacity planning.
- Drive adoption and continuous improvement of Microsoft Teams collaboration, meetings, voice, rooms, messaging and employee communication capabilities.
- Ensure solutions deliver a consistent, high-quality user experience across all regions.
About you
- 10+ years of experience in Unified Communications, real-time collaboration, enterprise messaging or workplace communication platforms.
- Extensive experience designing, governing and evolving enterprise-scale Microsoft Teams environments, including collaboration, calling, meetings, rooms, devices and policy management.
- Strong understanding of meeting room technologies, AV solutions and workplace collaboration services.
- Deep understanding of Teams Phone architecture, PSTN connectivity options, voice routing, call queues, auto attendants, emergency calling and telephony operational models.
- Experience integrating Microsoft Teams with contact‑centre, SBC, carrier, compliance recording, Exchange Online and adjacent unified communications services.
- Experience operating as a technical authority, lead architect or platform owner.
- Able to balance strategic planning and roadmap development with hands‑on technical problem solving.
- Comfortable working as an individual contributor within a lean team structure.
