Job summary

Saur Energy International is seeking a Site Engineering & Commissioning - Protection specialist with 3–6 years of hands-on experience in protection and control. You will test and commission MV/HV protection relays, configure IEDs, and ensure SCADA interoperability across feeders, transformers, lines, generators, and bus sections.

You will handle protocols like Modbus, DNP3, IEC61850, and IEC60870-5-103, perform retrofits, troubleshooting, and prepare commissioning documentation.

Qualifications

• Graduate or post graduate in Electrical or Electronics with 3–6 years of hands-on experience in protection and control.
• Proven ability to commission protection relays and schemes for MV/HV applications.
• Experience with IED configuration, interoperability with SCADA, and protocol testing.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing and commissioning of protection relays and schemes for feeders, transformers, lines and generators.
• Configure protection IEDs, perform goosing and ensure interoperability with SCADA systems.
• Set up communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, IEC61850, IEC60870-5-103) and manage data tagging.
• Retrofit protection IEDs, troubleshoot issues, and replace CRP as needed.
• Prepare commissioning documents (SATs, test reports, schedules, MOM) and present to customers.
• Travel extensively (80–90%) to client sites and deliver training and customer presentations.

Job description

Site engineering & commissioning - Protection

Knowledge on Testing and commissioning of Control & Relay Panels up to 765kV.

• Testing & commissioning of Protection Relays & Schemes for MV and HV application such as feeder, transformer, distance, generator, line differential, bus bar, etc.
• Protection IED: Configuration, Parametrization, Goosing, interoperability & integration with Scada.
• Configuration of communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3.0, IEC61850, IEC60870-5-103 & creation of Data set, RCB’s & Tagging of signals.
• Retrofitting & trouble shooting: Retrofitting of Protection IED, trouble shooting and Replacement of CRP.
• Hands on operating knowledge of secondary injection test kit like Omicron, doble, Ponovo, Isa etc. & Auto Testing Method like OCC, State Sequencing, Distance & Differential Characteristics Test.
• Preparation of Commissioning documents such as SAT, Test Reports, Commissioning schedule Plans & MOM.
• Planning and execution of training courses and customer presentations.
• OS : Windows, PC communication serial/ IP
• Willing to travel as the role demands minimum 80-90% travel.

• Experience with protection & control equipment and solutions preferably from Alstom, SEL, GE, ABB,NR & SIFANG make IEDs.
• Knowledge on Process Bus Technology
• Basic knowledge on Networking and communication protocols.
