GA GECC Engineer will execute Conventional Control System (CCS) Site Testing & Commissioning activities considering the quality/cost/time for the project assigned. This role involves testing of Protection IEDs, customer support, site services, commissioning, and maintenance works in line with the Field service & Quality Procedure. The candidate will monitor and control the project allocated site service budget, implement the design change process, supervise and coordinate all field service activities required to execute the project (in house or by suppliers/subcontractors), and ensure compliance with project technical specifications within the defined scope. The successful candidate will coordinate with cross functional teams, customers, and suppliers to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Responsible for the Testing & Commissioning of Protection IEDs, AVR, Tariff meter inclusive of Busbar Protection associated projects.
- Responsible for the resource planning of Field Service commissioning team for active projects.
- Manage the workload of the projects to ensure 90% and above billable ratio.
- Collaborate with other members of a multidisciplinary team for daily work deliverables.
- Understand the project technical requirement Customer Standards and specification and propose the solution to customer as per the project scope.
- Support Operations team to execute projects efficiently in terms of budgeted profitability, planning, and general reporting (internal / external).
- Ensure that agreements with customer for documentation lead times, delivery, reliability and quality are achieved within the budgetary constraints agreed.
- Demonstrate EHS compliance and ensure Zero Deviation Plan is implemented within the team and set the example by demonstrating proper acts and actively observing work conditions and behaviors, giving constructive feedback and celebrating EHS effective prevention.
- Manage and secure approvals, renewal of approvals of T&C engineers from key account customers.
- Ensure commitments to customer are met in accordance with contract with clear feedback through consistent customer interaction (e.g., communication, e-mail, letters, workshop) and customer meetings, periodic reviews, etc.
- Conduct Gate reviews during project execution.
- Handle Engineering and Field service works for Protection Relays, Panels modification, Protection logic diagram, GA/LA, Protection/SCS/LCC Schematics, Protection IEDs/AVR/Tariff meter configuration, SCS Architecture, SCS Signal list, Cable Schedule, IEC61850 signal mapping, etc.
- Support Production documents (Wiring Table/Label list/Cable Schedule/Interpanel wiring files), CT/VT Adequacy check, Relay setting calculations.
- Experience with Busbar protection configuration/engineering and site testing.
- Experience with protection relays software (Micom, Multilin & 3rd Party), Test kits (Omicron), and Microsoft Office.
- Communicate effectively with customers to ensure excellent customer service and maintain customer intimacy.
- Work with application team to address product issues and provide solutions to the customer.
- Revise drawings & provide technical clarifications against comments and respond to customer/Consultant comments.
- Support factory during Panels Integration and FAT and clarify/close any raised comments/snags during FAT.
- Raise Change requests for requirements not as per project specification.
- Support management for man-days and materials estimation during ITO stage and control during OTR stage.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Electrical engineering or related discipline from a reputed university
- 7 years minimum relevant experience preferably in Protection IEDs Configuration & Testing
- Knowledge of GE (Micom & Multilin) Protection IEDs and Competitors products
- Knowledge of schemes and application of protection relays in electrical networks including HV & EHV systems, and state-of-the-art technologies in substation automation
- Knowledge of Substation Automation System, Digital Substation concepts, IEC61850/PRP/HSR/RSTP and other Serial Communication
- Experience with Utilities and Industrial customer across Middle East, preferably with Kahramaa, Qatar Energy, Q-Companies approvals shall add advantage
- Ability to identify problems, collect relevant data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Experience of managing projects for protection and control systems is a distinct advantage
- Ability and willingness to travel across the globe (60%) without limitation
- Good oral/written communication skills in English and/or Arabic
