Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Commercial Underwriter (Non-EB) to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of commercial insurance products like fire, marine, and property insurance, as well as risk assessment, and will support business teams in evaluating and structuring insurance solutions.

Key responsibilities:

• Evaluate and assess risks for various non-EB commercial insurance products like Fire, Marine, and Property Insurance.
• Analyse client requirements and prepare customised quotes/proposals
• Coordinate with insurers to obtain competitive terms and support negotiations
• Prepare comparison charts, risk notes, and recommendation summaries for internal and client use.
• Provide technical underwriting support to the sales and account management teams.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory norms and the company's underwriting guidelines.
• Assist in policy placement, documentation review, and issuance coordination.
• Contribute to product innovation and underwriting strategy improvements.
• Maintain accurate records of quotes, proposals, and underwriting decisions.

Qualifications and Skills required:

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline; insurance certifications (III, CII) preferred
• 3–7 years of experience in commercial underwriting at a broker or insurer (Non-EB)
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial general insurance products like Marine, Property and Fire.
• Familiarity with underwriting tools, IRDAI regulations, and market pricing trends
• Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
• High attention to detail and organisational ability
• Proficiency in MS Office; familiarity with insurance portals and systems
