The Commercial Architect plays a critical role in shaping Convatec's global commercial technology ecosystem across DXP platforms, CMS, enterprise eCommerce, D365 CRM, ServiceNow and related commercial applications. The role is responsible for designing scalable, secure, and future-ready architectures that enable personalised digital experiences, global product catalogues, marketing activation, sales excellence, and customer support operations.
The Commercial Architect operates as a senior solution architect, partnering closely with business stakeholders across Marketing, Digital, eCommerce, Sales, IT and external technology partners.
Key duties & responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end solution architecture for DXP, CMS, eCommerce, CRM, PIM, DAM and customer support platforms, ensuring coherent integration across Convatec's commercial ecosystem.
- Design scalable, API-led architectures using REST, GraphQL, middleware, microservices and event-driven patterns.
- Produce high-quality HLA and HLD documentation and oversee adherence throughout project delivery.
- Work closely with product owners, engineering leads and vendors to define architectural runway for digital and commercial products.
- Evaluate existing solutions and identify gaps related to scalability, security, performance or alignment with business strategy.
- Lead architectural governance for commercial platforms including Optimizely, Sitecore, Acquia, CommerceTools, Optimizely Commerce, D365 CRM, ServiceNow and associated MarTech systems.
- Facilitate vendor selection, RFP responses, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis for new digital and commercial technologies.
- Ensure robust integration patterns across enterprise systems including PIM, DAM, SAP, Hyperion, D365, ODP, CDP, analytics platforms and third-party integrations.
- Advocate and embed privacy‑by‑design, security‑by‑design and AI‑by‑design principles.
- Support global digital experience and eCommerce transformation initiatives by ensuring architecture alignment and best practices.
- Provide architectural guidance to delivery teams and act as Technical Design Authority (TDA) for commercial solutions.
- Contribute to maturity assessments and future‑state models for Convatec's digital and commercial technology landscape.
About You
Essential experience
- Proven experience in solution architecture across enterprise Commercial, Digital Experience, CRM, and eCommerce technologies.
- Expertise with DXP and CMS platforms such as Optimizely, Sitecore, Acquia, Adobe Experience Manager.
- Good understanding of enterprise eCommerce platforms including CommerceTools, Optimizely Commerce, BigCommerce Enterprise or similar.
- Hands‑on experience architecting and integrating D365 Sales/CRM, Customer Service, CDPs and marketing automation systems.
- Knowledge of ServiceNow for customer service, case management and workflow automation.
- Strong understanding of commercial data flows including PIM, DAM, pricing, product catalogues, SPQ (Sales Pricing & Quoting).
- Deep understanding of APIs, GraphQL, microservices, middleware, ESB patterns (Azure Integration Services preferred).
- Experienced in creating HLAs and HLDs to a very high standard, operating independently and proactively.
- Strong communication skills working with PMs, BAs, engineering teams, C-suite, and business leaders globally.
- Experience with enterprise cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP.
Technical competencies
- Architecture modelling (C4, ArchiMate or equivalent).
- Understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD, cloud hosting models and containerization
- Good understanding of web technologies, headless architecture, Jamstack, React, Next.js, or similar.
- Familiarity with enterprise data governance, privacy, security controls and compliance frameworks.
- Knowledge of databases including SQL and NoSQL.
- Understanding of SDLC methodologies: agile, SAFe, waterfall, DevOps.
