in Pune, India is seeking an experienced Coating Specialist to lead the design, development, and evaluation of thermal barrier, environmental barrier, and abradable coating systems for high-performance jet engines and cryogenic turbomachinery. You will collaborate with materials scientists, manufacturing engineers, and propulsion designers to ensure component longevity, thermal resistance, and efficiency in extreme conditions.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech or M.Tech/MS in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Surface Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in gas turbine or rocket engine coating technologies.
• Hands-on expertise with coating processes such as APS, HVOF, CVD, PVD, EB-PVD, and laser cladding.
• Understanding of microstructure-property relationships in high-temperature coating systems.
• Familiarity with industry standards: ASTM, NADCAP, MIL specs for aerospace coatings.
• Experience with coating characterization tools (SEM, XRD, EDS, adhesion and porosity testing).
• Knowledge of substrate preparation, diffusion barriers, and surface treatments.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Indian nationals or OCI holders eligible to work in India.
• Candidates with R&D or aerospace lab/defense manufacturing background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate advanced coatings for turbine blades, vanes, combustor liners, and nozzle guide vanes.
• Work on Thermal Barrier Coatings (TBCs), Environmental Barrier Coatings (EBCs), anti-oxidation and anti-corrosion coatings.
• Collaborate on cryogenic pump part coating challenges (anti-icing, thermal mismatch).
• Interface with surface engineering and CAD teams for coating thickness and surface roughness control.
• Perform failure analysis of coatings post engine/rig test cycles.
• Support additive manufacturing post-processing and protective coatings.
• Contribute to documentation, standard operating procedures, and coating test matrices.
