Job summary

Northern Trust in Pune, India, is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst to help define scope and translate business needs within the SAFe delivery framework. You will work closely with business partners, IT, and project teams to ensure requirements are understood and implemented across the lifecycle.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years in financial services with 3+ years in a BA role, MBA/PGDM and B.Com/BA/BE qualifications, and strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Summary

The Business Analysis function plays a key role during the onset of a project or program by helping define scope and create requirements by working closely with business partners to understand and translate needs using the SAFe delivery framework. This role serves as a contact for business during requirements gathering phase and to IT during the design, development, and testing phase. Functional expertise is required.

Key expectations for BA job spec:

• End to end software development life cycle experience covering:
  • Gathering requirements, process modelling and data analysis
  • Working with the Business users to ensure that the requirements are gathered in line with the scope and fulfils all the requirements adequately to facilitate solution review and acceptance
  • Supporting the technology teams through the build and unit test activities to ensure that all requirements are understood
  • Working with business teams to elicit input and support the planning and execution of user acceptance testing
  • Supporting the test team through pre-acceptance testing, system testing and system integration testing, test execution review and acceptance
  • Assisting with operation readiness, data migration, user testing and roll-out as necessary, pre preparedness and post release monitoring (warranty period and fix deployments)
• Carries out activities that are large in scope, cross-functional and technically difficult with significant financial, client, and/or internal business impact.
• May have direct interaction with committees and/or Senior Management
• More technically sound in area of expertise and has broader knowledge of other areas
• Delivers a work product that requires less revision
• Able to facilitate discussions and reach agreements
• Able to manage respective product backlog and keep work items on track to the delivery date.
• Collaborate with Product owners and Project Managers to intake and manage incoming work items (Epics), support PI Planning, and define work breakdown structures, with proficiency in Agile planning and delivery
• Able to define and document detailed Target Operating model for the implementation of the change

Skill/ Domain Knowledge:

• Experience of having worked in a Global Custody and/or Securities Servicing environment is key, Trade Settlement process knowledge is a must.
• Experience & knowledge on SAFe Agile delivery framework.
• Knowledge on tools like Micorsoft 365 tools, Visio, Miro and ADO and co-pilot
• Strong communication skills, collaboration and stakeholder management
• Experience of working in transformation programs or change projects
• Ability to quickly interpret/decipher trends, identify early signs from available data and formulate effective strategies and actions in achieving program objectives.
• Highly flexible and adaptable to change
• Having done Business Analysis role for 3 years or more
• BA and Agile or SaFE Agile certifications are encouraged

Experience:

For internal applications - 24 months as Associate Consultant

Seasoned candidate with financial services business knowledge and Trade Settlements functional expertise that has been developed over 8+ years and/or equivalent experience

Education

• MBA/PGDM in any specialization
• B.Com/BA/BE in any specialization
