Job summary

IDC Engineering India is seeking a CNC Machining professional to plan and execute machining processes from raw materials to finished components. You will read engineering drawings, select processes, and optimize cutting parameters to ensure quality and efficiency.

The role requires hands-on experience with turning, milling, and related operations, plus familiarity with G- and M-codes and basic CNC programming concepts. It is a hands-on, on-site position in Chennai area.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machining fundamentals and CNC programming.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret tolerances.
• Capability to plan and optimize machining processes from raw material to finished parts.

Responsibilities

• Understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
• Plan the machining process from raw material to finished component.
• Select machining processes such as turning, facing, grooving, threading, drilling, boring, and milling.
• Choose cutting tools, inserts, tool holders, and work holding methods.
• Calculate machining parameters: cutting speed, spindle speed, feed rate, feed per revolution, depth of cut.
• Develop basic CNC programs using G-codes and M-codes.
• Understand CNC turning programming concepts (G96, G97, G00, G01, G02, G03).
• Set tool offsets, work offsets, and tool wear offsets.
• Identify machining issues like tool wear, vibration, poor surface finish, and dimensional variation.
• Optimize cutting parameters to improve productivity, tool life, and part quality.

We are looking for a CNC Machining professional with knowledge of machining fundamentals, CNC programming, cutting parameter calculations, machine operations, and process planning. The candidate should be able to understand engineering drawings and develop machining processes from raw material to finished components.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and machining requirements.
• Plan the machining process from raw material to finished component.
• Select appropriate machining processes such as turning, facing, grooving, threading, drilling, boring, and milling.
• Select suitable cutting tools, inserts, tool holders, and work holding methods.
• Calculate and set machining parameters such as:
• Cutting Speed (Vc)
• Spindle Speed (RPM)
• Feed / Feed Rate
• Feed per Revolution
• Depth of Cut (DOC)
• Develop and understand basic CNC programs using G-codes and M-codes.
• Understand CNC turning programming concepts including G96, G97, G00, G01, G02, G03, and other basic codes.
• Set tool offsets, work offsets, and tool wear offsets.
• Identify machining problems such as tool wear, vibration, poor surface finish, dimensional variation, and tool breakage.
• Optimize cutting parameters to improve productivity, tool life, and component quality.
