Job summary

Abbott Laboratories is seeking a Software Developer/Engineer to create, maintain and debug C# applications, API interfaces, and database functions. You will develop data processing apps and user interfaces, working from requirements to deliver robust software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years in Microsoft Visual Studio (C#/VB.NET).
• 3+ years in database development (SQL Server / PostgreSQL).
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Microservices.
• Strong object‑oriented programming skills.
• Familiar with design and architectural patterns.
• Knowledge of concurrency patterns in C#.
• Proficient with PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with ASP.NET / IIS.
• Clean, readable C# code writing.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Software developer / Engineer role creates, maintains and debugs C# application code, API interfaces and database functions. The primary function of this role is the development of applications that process, ingest and transform data as well as to create/maintain user interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop interfaces, applications and other technical solutions


• Creation and modification C# software source code, SQL scripts, and procedures.


• Must be able to work under tight deadlines and juggle priorities as needed.


• Work independently as well as in a collaborative environment.


• Design and implement various database queries, stored procedures, etc.


• Support implementation, enhancement, and modifications to test cases, procedures, scripts, and code.


• Contribute to and support gathering, analyzing, and validating requirements.


• Working from requirement specifications, develop, maintain, and update detailed design and interface specifications.


• Contribute to and support root-cause analysis of failures.


• Comply with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments.


• Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.


• Identify and routinely use the most effective, cost-efficient, and best practice to execute processes; continually evaluate their effectiveness and appropriateness, and promote the process of continuous quality improvement and risk management.

Experience and Skills

• Total combined experience: 3+ years. Bachelor degree in Computer Science (or a related discipline)


• 3+ years’ experience in Microsoft Visual Studio (C#/VB.NET)


• 3+ years’ experience in database development (SQL Server / PostgreSQL)


• Knowledge of Azure Kubernetes Microservices


• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming


• Familiar with various design and architectural patterns


• Knowledge of concurrency patterns in C#


• Proficient with Microsoft PostgreSQL and SQL Server


• Strong troubleshooting skills.


• Ability to Debug and isolate software problems.


• Experience ASP.NET / Internet Information Services (IIS)
