Job summary

Avaada Energy seeks a Civil Lead Wind Construction to plan, supervise, and execute civil works across WTG foundations, underground cabling, and pooling substations for wind projects. You will ensure safe, on-time completion per drawings, specs, and HSE standards.

The role requires leading EPC contractors, coordinating with electrical teams, and delivering daily to monthly progress reports while maintaining QA/QC discipline on site.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering is required.
• Diploma in Civil Engineering may be considered for candidates with strong relevant experience.
• 8-15 years of experience in civil construction in wind/renewable energy projects.

• Lead execution of WTG foundation works including excavation, PCC, reinforcement, formwork and backfilling.
• Supervise crane pads, hardstands, internal roads, culverts, drains and site development.

Role & responsibilities

Job Purpose

The Civil Lead Wind Construction will be responsible for planning, supervising and executing civil construction activities across WTG foundations, USS/underground cable infrastructure, internal roads and infrastructure, and Pooling Substation (PSS) for wind power projects.

The role will ensure timely and safe execution of civil works in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, project schedules and HSE requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. WTG & Wind Farm Civil Works

• Lead execution of WTG foundation works including excavation, PCC, reinforcement, formwork, anchor cage installation, concreting, curing and backfilling.
• Supervise construction of crane pads, hardstands, internal roads, culverts, drains and site development works.
• Ensure foundation dimensional accuracy and readiness for WTG erection.
• Coordinate with WTG OEM and erection teams for foundation handover.

2. USS / Underground Cable Infrastructure

• Supervise cable trench excavation, duct installation, cable crossings, joint pits, backfilling and route restoration.
• Ensure proper construction of culverts, protective structures and cable corridors.
• Coordinate with electrical teams for cable laying and jointing activities.

3. PSS / Substation Civil Works

• Lead civil execution for Pooling Substation (PSS)/switchyard works.
• Supervise construction of control room buildings, transformer foundations, GIS/AIS foundations, equipment pedestals, cable trenches, oil pits, boundary walls, roads and drainage.
• Monitor earthwork, excavation, PCC, RCC, structural steel, backfilling, compaction and finishing activities.

4. Project Planning & Execution

• Prepare and monitor daily, weekly and monthly civil execution plans.
• Ensure activities are completed as per approved drawings, method statements and project schedules.
• Track project milestones and identify execution risks and mitigation measures.
• Coordinate with Electrical, WTG, Transmission Line, Engineering and Commissioning teams.

5. Contractor & Resource Management

• Manage civil contractors, subcontractors and site vendors.
• Monitor manpower, machinery, materials and resource utilization.
• Verify measurements, quantities and contractor bills.
• Ensure timely mobilization of resources to maintain project progress.

6. Quality Assurance & Control

• Ensure compliance with approved QA/QC plans, drawings and technical specifications.
• Supervise reinforcement, formwork, concreting, cube testing, soil compaction and other field quality tests.
• Review concrete test reports, material inspection reports and quality documentation.
• Ensure proper maintenance of as-built drawings and project records.

7. HSE

• Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and site safety procedures.
• Conduct/participate in toolbox talks and safety inspections.
• Ensure safe practices for excavation, lifting, working at height and other construction activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture across civil construction activities.

8. Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Participate in project review meetings and provide civil progress updates.
• Prepare daily progress reports, weekly/monthly MIS and construction status reports.
• Support project handover, punch-point closure and final documentation.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
• Diploma in Civil Engineering may be considered for candidates with strong relevant experience.

Experience

• 8 - 15 years of relevant experience in civil construction.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Wind Power / Renewable Energy / Power Infrastructure projects.
• Hands-on experience in one or more of WTG foundations, USS/underground cabling, PSS/switchyard/substation civil works.
• Experience in managing EPC contractors and site execution teams.
