Reporting to: CI Tech Operations Manager
Team name: Charging Infra Operations
About the Team and the Role:
Behind every Ather ride is a charger that just works. Ather Grid is India's widest two-wheeler fast-charging network, with 5,000+ fast chargers across 395+ cities and a growing footprint in Nepal and Sri Lanka. It grows in step with a fast-scaling scooter business, led by the Rizta's 3 lakh+ sales and mass-market EL platform. The CI Operations team keeps this network healthy and getting smarter, managing the firmware, hardware and backend systems behind every charger.
As a CI Tech Operations Specialist, you will be the bridge between our engineering teams and the field. You will own charger firmware and hardware releases from scope freeze to fleet rollout, find failure patterns in field data, train the vendors and network control teams who keep chargers alive, and design electrification plans that bring charging to gated societies and commercial spaces. If you want to see your work go live on thousands of devices across India, this is your seat.
Responsibilities:
- Own the end-to-end firmware and hardware release cycle for Ather Grid chargers: align scope with Product Quality, System Engineering and Dev through Jira, review DVP and backend SQA reports, and run Push OTA rollouts from Alpha to Beta to the full fleet via GCP.
- Monitor every release and the health of the network using SQL on Superset and Grafana, tracking message sync delays, auth checks and lag build-up, and turn the data into dashboards that reveal failure and usage trends.
- Spot system failure patterns and tool bugs early, drive root cause analysis through field visits, and hand backend and firmware teams the diagnostic data they need for fast fixes.
- Keep the network secure by running bi-weekly certificate renewal checks and deployments through Aikaan and Fleet Commander, and coordinating scheduled secure port access with partner teams.
- Equip the field: write work instructions for mass deployments, prepare service documentation, and train installation and maintenance vendors and the Network Control team; handle L2/L3 maintenance calls and operations MIS.
- Design electrical distribution schemes that bring charging to large gated societies and commercial parking spaces, balancing technical and commercial needs.
- Shape what comes next by carrying field insights into product development, leading Design for Serviceability (DFS) reviews with engineering for new chargers, and drafting clear firmware release communications.
- Work closely with the scooter business, CQ, PQ, Engineering, Field Ops and Business teams to keep charging in step with the vehicle roadmap, lead cross-functional reviews, and deliver on vertical OKRs.
Experience and Qualifications:
- 2-5 years
- B.E./B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics or relevant experience
Must Have Competencies:
- Demonstrate expert-level Firmware Release Management to plan, deploy and monitor OTA releases across a live charger fleet using tools such as Fleet Commander, Aikaan and GCP.
- Apply advanced Data Analysis and SQL skills on Superset, Grafana, Databricks or Metabase to evaluate Alpha/Beta grids, check backend health; diagnose and surface failure patterns and usage trends.
- Bring expert coordination, collaboration and communication skills to align PQ, Engineering, Field Ops, vendors and the scooter business, and to write release notes and work instructions people can act on.
- Combine advanced technical knowledge of chargers, networking and electrical systems with strong project management and Jira-based issue tracking to take releases and bug fixes to closure.
Good to have Competencies:
- Apply basic negotiation skills when working with installation and maintenance vendors and site owners on electrification projects.
- Use basic conflict resolution to settle competing priorities between field, product and engineering teams during releases.
- Bring a basic understanding of electric scooter systems, vehicle/charger OTA and connected features, and how they interact with charging.
- Have basic exposure to electrical load planning and distribution design for residential societies and commercial parking spaces.
