Job summary

SYSTRA India is seeking a Chief Project Director (Civil) to lead large-scale railway and highway civil works, ensuring scope, schedule, cost, quality and safety are met on complex projects.

The role requires senior leadership with 20+ years in civil construction, including railway/linear projects, and proven governance experience; on-site availability and collaboration with clients, regulators and partners are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 20 years' experience in construction industry including Railway/Highway projects.
• Minimum 10 years in Railway/linear projects and 3+ years as Chief/Senior Project Director or equivalent.
• Experience in SAG or equivalent Grade or above in Civil Engineering or in Indian Railways/RITES/ IRCON/RVNL or equivalent grades in Konkan Railway/MRVC/DFCCIL/ any JVs/SPVs with Ministry of Railways/State governments/metro rail corporations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure scope, schedule, cost, quality and performance requirements are clearly defined, monitored and achieved.
• Oversee planning, design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, handover and close-out.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress, quality, claims, variations and compliance with contract requirements; resolve or escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain effective relationships with the client, railway/safety authorities, government bodies, local communities and project partners.
• Oversee quality assurance, inspections, audits, document control and regulatory compliance.
• Provide accurate, timely reports on progress, cost, schedule, safety, quality, risks and forecast outcomes to governance bodies.

Currently, we are bidding for Railway projects across India. The position of Chief Project Director (Civil) is the key position in these BIDs.

Missions/Main Duties

• Ensure the scope, schedule, cost, quality and performance requirements are clearly defined, monitored and achieved.
• Oversee planning, design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, handover and close-out.
• Monitor contractor performance, progress, quality, claims, variations and compliance with contract requirements; resolve or escape issues in line with delegated authority.
• Maintain effective working relationships with the client, railway and safety authorities, government bodies, local communities, utility owners, operators and project partners.
• Oversee quality assurance, inspections, audits, document control and compliance with approved specifications, permits and regulatory requirements.
• Provide accurate, timely reports on progress, cost, schedule, safety, quality, risks, decisions and forecast outcomes to the client and governance bodies.

Profile/Skills

• He/She should have Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering.
• He/She should have minimum of 20 years’ experience in construction industry including Railway / Highway projects for a minimum experience of 10 years in Railway/linear projects and worked as Chief/senior project director or equivalent position for a minimum of 3 years

OR

• At least 5 years’ experience in SAG or equivalent Grade or above in Civil Engineering or at least 7 years’ service in SG & above in Civil Engineering Department or in equivalent grade in Indian Railways/RITES/ IRCON/RVNL orequivalent grades in Konkan Railway/ MRVC/DFCCIL/any JVs/SPVs with Ministryof Railways/State govt, any Metro Rail Corporation either individually or combined.
