Job summary

SYSTRA India is seeking a seasoned Team Leader/Project Director to guide high-value rail infrastructure programs. The candidate will oversee strategic direction, budget management, and integration of civil, track, signaling, and rolling stock systems for national rail initiatives.

Ideal applicants will have extensive experience in transport and logistics infrastructure, with a focus on rail-based passenger transit systems and complex stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; PG in Civil Engineering preferred.
• 10+ years in infrastructure, transport & logistics sectors; rail experience preferred.
• Experience as Team Leader or equivalent on large public sector or private rail projects.

Currently, we are bidding for Semi High Speed Rail projects across India. The position of Team Leader/ Project Director is the key position in these BIDs.

Missions/Main Duties

• Strategic Leadership & Delivery: Provide overall project direction, ensuring the construction and commissioning of the rail line is on time and within budget.
• Financial & Contract Management: Oversee the massive project budget, cash flow, and manage complex, high-value contracts with various contractors and suppliers.
• Technical Integration: Guarantee the seamless integration of all core systems: civil infrastructure, track laying, advanced signaling, and rolling stock (the trains).
• High-Level Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary liaison with government bodies, regulatory authorities, and international funding agencies.
• Risk Mitigation: Proactively identify and manage major risks, particularly complex challenges like land acquisition and obtaining statutory clearances.
• Quality & Safety Assurance: Enforce the highest safety and quality standards across all work phases for a high-speed operating environment.

Profile/Skills

• Qualification: Graduate in Civil Engineering and having working Knowledge of reading, writing and Speaking in English. [additional marks for PG in above Engineering]
• Minimum Experience: Minimum Experience of 25 years post Bachelor’s degree in the Infrastructure sub sector related to Transport & Logistics [additional marks for more experience in any Rail based Passenger Transit system*]
• Relevant Experience:10 years’ experience in Infrastructure sub sector related to Transport & Logistics as Team leader or equivalent position. [additional marks for more experience; experience in position one level below allowed with less weightage]
• Eligible Assignment**(see below):Must have Experience of one "Eligible assignment" as Team leader or equivalent position or one level below to the proposed position for a full-time continuous deployment period not less than 2 years. [additional marks for more Eligible Assignments; experience in position one level below allowed with less weightage]
• Rail-based Passenger Transit System shall mean
  • High Speed Transit System / Regional Rail Transit System (with operational speed of 160kmh and above) OR
  • Urban/Suburban/Intercity/Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) [excluding LRT with design PHPDT less than 20000/Tram/Monorail Systems]
• Shall mean experience of working as a personnel of General Consultant / Project Management Consultant / Employer’s Personnel in a work / project in a Rail based Passenger Transit System with operational speed of 160 kmph or more comprising:
• Construction of Civil structures (at-grade/elevated/underground) AND
• Installation of Systems (Track, Rolling Stock, Traction & Power Supply, Signalling)

Including Detailed Design or Proof checking of designs; Bid Process Management; Project and Interface Management; Construction Supervision and System Installations and Testing & Commissioning
