Position Overview

• Position Title: Chief Design & Review Engineer
• Department / Practice: General Consultancy (GC) Railway Infrastructure
• Location: Kota, Rajasthan (West Central Railway Zone)
• Employment Type: Full-Time / Project-Based

Role Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Chief Design & Review Engineer to lead the structural design review, proof-checking, and engineering verification for a major railway General Consultancy (GC) project based in Kota, Rajasthan.

In this critical leadership role, you will act as the principal authority for all structural and civil design submittals, ensuring compliance with West Central Railway (WCR), Indian Railways (IR), and Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) guidelines. You will bridge the gap between contractors, the client, and statutory authorities to guarantee structural safety, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of complex railway infrastructure assets.

1. Design Management & Proof-Checking

• Lead and mentor a team of structural and civil design review engineers.
• Conduct rigorous proof-checking, value engineering, and compliance reviews for detailed engineering drawings (Good for Construction - GFC drawings) submitted by contractors.
• Review structural calculations, design methodologies, and general arrangement drawings (GADs) for major and minor bridges, Road Over Bridges (ROBs), Road Under Bridges (RUBs), subways, retaining walls, tunnels, and station buildings.

2. Client & Statutory Coordination

• Interface proactively with West Central Railway (WCR) divisional authorities (Kota division) and zonal headquarters officials, as well as executing agencies like RVNL, IRCON, or DFCCIL.
• Secure necessary approvals for structural designs, loading schemes, and clearance profiles from railway authorities and statutory bodies (e.g., Commissioner of Railway Safety - CRS).
• Address audit observations, technical queries, and safety compliance reports raised by the client or independent safety assessors.

3. Site Support & Quality Assurance

• Provide technical troubleshooting and engineering resolutions for site-specific structural bottlenecks, foundation anomalies, or alignment challenges characteristic of the Rajasthan terrain and WCR topography (such as river crossings over the Chambal basin and local strata variations).
• Oversee material specification validation and adherence to quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) plans during construction phases.

Candidate Qualifications & Experience

• Educational Qualification: Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (M.Tech / M.E.) from a premier institution (IIT/NIT or equivalent).
• Total Experience: Minimum 10 to 15 years of post-qualification experience in major infrastructure projects, with at least 8+ years specifically dedicated to Indian Railways / Metro rail / High-Speed Rail projects.
• Design & Software Proficiency: Proven track record in designing heavy rail structures; hands-on proficiency with structural design and finite element software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Midas Civil, CSI Bridge, ETABS).
• Codes & Standards Expertise: In-depth knowledge of RDSO guidelines, Indian Railways Unified Standard Specifications (IRUSS), IRC codes, and relevant IS codes.

• Geographical Familiarity: Prior working experience or deep understanding of project environments within the West Central Railway (WCR) zone or similar regional networks in North/West India is a strong advantage.
