Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services is seeking a Charger interop test engineer to join our Pune-based team. You will lead field-based interoperability testing for EV charging, manage test vehicles with required HW/SW configurations, and develop detailed drive plans.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure tests align with ISO, DIN, IEC, and OCPP standards and you will analyze CAN data to identify compatibility issues.

Qualifications

• Experience in field-based interoperability testing for EV charging
• Ability to trace and identify interoperability issues across CPOs and charging stations
• Strong analytical mindset to study data and report test results within formal documents

Responsibilities

• Identify and trace CPOs for interoperability testing
• Manage test vehicles with HW/SW configurations for road-drive testing
• Develop detailed drive plans and route maps for testing
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams for test execution
• Conduct field tests per industry standards and ISO/OCPP specifications
• Log and analyze CAN data during road tests using vector tools
• Contribute to the FMA tracker with test cases to prevent recurrence
• Improve future EVs software/electronics through testing insights
• Document fault rectification studies to minimize downtime
• Support continuous improvement to enhance test efficiency and product quality
• Undertake additional tasks as assigned by line manager

Job description

We are looking for Charger interop test engineer,

Experience: 5-12 years

Location: Pune

JD:

• Identify and trace Charge Point Operators (CPOs).
• Manage Test vehicles with required hardware (HW) and software (SW) configurations for road drive testing.
• Develop detailed route maps to create comprehensive drive plans for interoperability testing.
• Ensure availability and alignment with cross-functional teams for smooth execution of test activities.
• Conduct Field-based interoperability testing in line with industry standards and protocols. & Ensure compliance with ISO 15118, DIN 70121, IEC 61851, IEC62196, and OCPP specifications.
• Identify compatibility issues between test vehicle and charging stations, using data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, JIRA, Xray) during road drive testing.
• After identifying the number one compatibility issue, start and be a key part of the problem-solving process with the support of the Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure Test Engineer(s);
• Following the successful issue resolution, contribute to the team’s FMA tracker (Failure Mode Avoidance) is up to date and contains at least one test case to prevent recurrence (the team will run the generated test case(s) on its charging station emulator for all future vehicles);
• Work towards improving our future electric vehicles at a software and electronics level.
• To conduct studies regarding fault rectification to ensure minimum down-time
• To support continuous improvement activity with the goal of improving test efficiency and/or product quality
• Undertake any other work as directed by their line manager in connection with their job as may be requested
• Good communication and negotiation skills
• Hands ON EVSE and Electric Vehicle Charging experience for Interoperability
• CAN data logging vector tools (CANoe, CAN Analyzer)
• CCS listener
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Studying data and reporting test data.
• Natural problem-solver with structured approach to problem solving in a technical environment.
• The ability to validate, prepare and read documentation.

Computer literate, including Microsoft Office competency to produce plans, presentations, graphs, process and Single Point Lesson (SPL) documents.
