Role & responsibilities
1. CCTV Installation & Service
- Assist in installation of IP CCTV cameras.
- Install and configure DVRs, NVRs, XVRs and related equipment.
- Carry out camera mounting, cable routing, termination and labelling.
- Configure cameras, recording settings, motion detection and basic system parameters.
- Assist in setting up CCTV viewing on computers, mobile phones and other devices.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance of CCTV systems.
- Identify and troubleshoot common camera, power, cabling and recording issues.
- Replace defective cameras, SMPS, connectors, cables and other components as required.
2. Networking
- Assist with installation and configuration of:
- Network switches
- Routers
- Wi-Fi access points
- PoE switches
- LAN cabling
- Network racks and patch panels
- Perform RJ45 termination and basic LAN testing.
- Understand basic IP addressing, subnetting, DHCP and gateway configuration.
- Troubleshoot basic network connectivity problems.
- Test network connectivity between cameras, NVRs, switches and customer networks.
- Assist in configuring remote access for CCTV systems.
3. Cabling & Site Work
- Execute structured cabling for CCTV and LAN installations.
- Route and dress cables professionally.
- Install conduits, PVC pipes, cable trays and other cable-management accessories.
- Label cables and maintain proper documentation.
- Use basic tools such as LAN testers, crimping tools, multimeters and drilling equipment.
- Follow safety procedures while working at customer premises and at height.
4. Site Installation & Commissioning
- Visit customer sites for installation, service and maintenance.
- Work according to site drawings, BOQs and instructions from senior technicians.
- Assist in system testing and commissioning.
- Ensure installed equipment is properly secured and functional.
- Demonstrate basic system operation to customers after installation.
- Prepare installation/service reports.
5. Troubleshooting & Customer Support
- Attend customer complaints and service calls.
- Diagnose basic hardware, cabling, power and networking faults.
- Escalate complex technical issues to senior technicians.
- Maintain good professional behaviour at customer premises.
- Ensure timely closure of service tickets.
Preferred candidate profile
Essential:
- Basic knowledge of CCTV systems.
- Basic knowledge of IP networking.
- Knowledge of LAN cable and RJ45 termination.
- Basic understanding of IP addresses and network connectivity.
- Ability to use a LAN cable tester and basic electrical/technical tools.
- Basic computer skills.
Advantageous:
- Experience with Hikvision / CP PLUS / Dahua / Uniview or similar CCTV systems.
- Knowledge of PoE switches.
- Basic router and Wi-Fi configuration.
- Basic knowledge of VLANs.
- Familiarity with CAT6/CAT6A structured cabling.
- Knowledge of biometric attendance/access-control systems.
- Basic knowledge of video door phones, intercom and access-control systems.
Educational Qualification
- ITI / Diploma in Electronics, Electrical, Computer Hardware & Networking, or related field preferred.
- Candidates with relevant hands-on experience may also be considered.
