Job summary

Cathay Pacific is seeking a seasoned Cargo Service Manager to lead regional cargo operations from Chennai, reporting to the Regional Cargo Service Manager - SAMEA (BOM). Qualifications

• 6+ years of cargo services experience, including supervisory or managerial roles.
• Strong knowledge of airline operations and international air freight.
• Mandatory Cathay Cargo Freighter RCO Licence and SHE licence for freighter ports.

Responsibilities

• Execute cargo operations in line with regional strategy, ensuring efficient, reliable, and customer-focused service delivery.
• Monitor performance using KPIs, SLAs, self-audits and reviews, implementing improvements as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security, aviation, and cargo regulations including PLACI requirements.
• Lead Safety Management System implementation and business continuity processes.
• Resolve customer service issues using feedback and data to improve service quality.
• Manage supplier performance for cargo terminal, ramp handling and related service providers.
• Collaborate with ground handling agents, GSSAs, and authorities to strengthen resilience and compliance.
• Lead, coach and develop port teams through performance management and succession planning.

Role Introduction

Reports to Regional Cargo Service Manager - SAMEA (BOM)

To support Cathay Cargo's mission by planning and executing cargo service strategies at the port that drive reliable, customer-centric air cargo solutions. The Cargo Service Manager ensures smooth operations and strong service delivery by collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders.

By providing clear guidance and support, the role empowers teams to meet performance targets while upholding the highest standards of safety, compliance, and sustainability. Through teamwork, specialized expertise, and innovative practices, the Cargo Service Manager builds customer trust and delivers value, ensuring every shipment contributes to moving cargo that matters to the world.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute cargo operations in line with regional strategy, ensuring efficient, reliable, and customer-focused service delivery.
• Monitor operational performance through key performance indicators, service level agreements, self-audits, and structured reviews, implementing improvements where required.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable safety, security, aviation, and cargo regulations, including Pre-Loading Advance Cargo Information (PLACI) requirements.
• Lead the implementation of Safety Management System, emergency response, accident response, and business continuity processes.
• Resolve customer service issues and use feedback, Cargo iQ indicators, and performance data to improve service quality and customer satisfaction.
• Manage supplier performance for cargo terminal, ramp handling, and related service providers, ensuring delivery against agreed standards.
• Partner with ground handling agents, General Sales and Service Agents, and regulatory authorities to strengthen operational resilience and compliance.
• Oversee trucking, charter operations, offline cargo handling, digital cargo initiatives, and Unit Load Device inventory management to support operational excellence.
• Lead, coach, and develop port teams through performance management, talent development, succession planning, and capability building.
• Act as the Operational Duty Holder, maintaining accountability for operational safety, supplier performance, regulatory compliance, and service delivery at the assigned ports.

Requirements

Academic Qualifications

• University degree (or tertiary equivalent) in a related discipline
• Additional certification or diploma in logistics, supply chain management, or aviation operations is preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Training And Experience

• 6+ years of cargo services experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of airline operations and international air freight.
• Mandatory possession of Cathay Cargo Freighter RCO Licence and SHE (Super Heavy- as applicable) Licence for freighter-operating ports.
• Proven ability to set and achieve goals, lead high-performing teams, and drive results.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, decision-making, and time management skills.
• Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in India.
