Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Private Limited in Pune seeks a CAD Engineer to drive the development of 48V low-voltage energy storage system components, converters and distribution units, from concept to release.

You will design with CATIA V5/3D, ensure compliance with DIN ISO 16742/2768, collaborate with suppliers, and support testing, validation and release processes.

Qualifications

• Proficient in CAD, especially CATIA V5/3D, for 2D/3D construction.
• Knowledge of DIN ISO 16742 and DIN ISO 2768 standards.
• Experience with 48V voltage battery systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design components from sketch to series part including testing and validation.
• Manage release process and supplier relationships within BMW systems.
• Oversee integration of low-voltage energy storage components and related parts.
• Ensure component precision and function using FMK analysis.

At BMWTechWorks India, you will be part of the innovative Cluster Digital Product Engineering, driving the development of vital components for BMW's next-generation electric vehicles.

The development of all components for the integration of low-voltage energy storage systems, converters and active power distribution units. This includes mounting and retention components as well as peripheral parts made from steel, aluminum, plastics and elastomers.

We are responsible for the technical and administrative management of the parts:

technical management includes development and designing from sketch to series part including testing and validation

administrative management includes release process, supplier management and internal BMW system service.

Must have technical skill

• Proficient in CAD, especially CATIA V5/3D, for 2D and 3D construction including array and subcomponents, board outlines, folding/bending, panelization, and technical drawing.
• Knowledge of DIN ISO 16742 (plastic molding) and DIN ISO 2768 (metal punching) standards.
• Experience with 48Volt voltage battery systems, including the components.
• Familiarity with FMK (Functional Tolerance Chain Analysis) to ensure component precision and function.

Good to have technical skills

• Previous experience in automotive battery development or related 48V voltage systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality assurance in automotive component production.
• Ability to identify cost-saving potentials without compromising safety and quality.
