Job summary

BMWTechWorks India in Pune is seeking a Design Engineer for the CAD Unit specializing in HV battery components and assemblies. You will create and optimize 3D CAD models in CATIA V5/3D and collaborate with HV battery development teams to ensure manufacturability and vehicle integration.

You will coordinate technical aspects with various BMW specialist departments, bringing your expertise to component design, their interactions, and manufacturing processes.

As the technical expert, you will support supplier negotiations, evaluate change requests, and identify opportunities to optimize costs while maintaining the highest quality standards. Responsibilities

• Responsibility for the design and development of HV battery components and assemblies, including cooling systems, cell contacting systems, cell sensing components, and injection-molded plastic parts
• Creation and maintenance of 3D CAD models and drawings using CATIA
• Close collaboration with the HV battery development team
• Optimization of functionality, cost, manufacturability, and vehicle integration
• Support of technical reviews, engineering changes, and series development activities

Must have technical skill

• Proficient in CAD, especially CATIA V5/3D, for 2D and 3D construction including array and subcomponents, board outlines, folding/bending, panelization, and technical drawing.
• Knowledge of DIN ISO 16742 (plastic molding) and DIN ISO 2768 (metal punching) standards.
• Experience with high-voltage battery systems, including air and creepage requirements.
• Familiarity with FMK (Functional Tolerance Chain Analysis) to ensure component precision and function.

Good to have Technical skills

• Previous experience in automotive battery development or related high-voltage systems.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality assurance in automotive component production.
• Ability to identify cost-saving potentials without compromising safety and quality.
