We are looking for a passionate and detail-oriented CADD Engineer to join our mechanical design team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys turning ideas into real products through 3D modeling, engineering drawings, and collaborative product development. As a CADD Engineer, you will work closely with design, manufacturing, and product teams to create accurate CAD models, improve existing designs, and support prototype and production activities. You’ll get hands‑on exposure to the complete product development cycle—from concept sketches to manufacturing‑ready designs.
Job Responsibilities
KEY DELIVERABLES OF THE ROLE
- Develop detailed 3D solid and surface models alongside technical drawing packages using industry‑standard CAD software platforms.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5 standards to ensure proper component fit, form, and function.
- Perform 1D and 2D tolerance stack‑up analyses to validate assembly integrity and mitigate manufacturing risks.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to transform conceptual designs into scalable, production‑ready mechanical components.
- Generate and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs), and product configuration structures within PDM/PLM systems.
- Incorporate Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) guidelines across sheet metal, injection molded, and machined designs.
- Assist in prototype fabrication by collaborating with machine shops, rapid prototyping labs, and external vendors during design verification.
- Conduct structured peer reviews of CAD geometry, drawing packages, and revision control histories to ensure drawing accuracy.
- Update, optimize, and digitize legacy CAD files and engineering documentation based on field feedback and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform basic structural Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and kinematic checks to validate preliminary design feasibility.
- Standardize CAD drawing templates, part libraries, and component symbol databases to improve design pipeline efficiency.
- Participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and propose mechanical design modifications to resolve identified issues.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
- 0–3 years of experience in CAD design, drafting, or product development (internship experience is also considered).
- Proficiency in at least one major CAD tool such as SolidWorks, PTC Creo, CATIA, or Autodesk Inventor.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and mechanical design fundamentals.
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, or 3D printing.
- Good problem‑solving ability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn in a fast‑paced startup environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to FEA or simulation tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, etc.).
- Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or SolidWorks PDM.
- Experience working on battery systems, drones, robotics, or consumer hardware products.
