Job Summary
As part of the Global Engineering Team, the Junior CAD Drafter will support the creation and maintenance of AV design documentation and drafting deliverables. This role is intended for individuals beginning their career in AV design and drafting and provides a structured learning path toward Project Support Engineer and Associate Design Engineer roles.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Create and update architectural floor plans, elevations, and reflected ceiling plans using AutoCAD under the guidance of senior team members.
- Assist in preparing CAD deliverables in accordance with Diversified standards and training requirements.
- Maintain drawing files, project documentation, and version control within designated project systems.
- Utilize Diversified's centralized block libraries and templates.
- Support the preparation of PDF markups and drawing revisions using Bluebeam Revu.
- Assist with Bill of Materials (BOM) updates and project documentation.
- Perform quality checks on drawings before submission for review.
- Provide daily status updates on assigned tasks.
- Participate in training programs, mentoring sessions, and continuous learning activities.
- Attend relevant manufacturer training sessions, lunch‑and‑learns, and online education programs.
Education / Certifications
- Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Drafting, Architecture, IT, or a related field preferred.
- Basic AutoCAD certification or training preferred.
- AVIXA CTS certification is not required but encouraged as part of career development.
Required Skills
- Basic knowledge of Audio Visual (AV) systems and industry terminology required.
- Basic understanding of AutoCAD and engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with architectural floor plans, elevations, and construction documentation is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and drafting standards quickly.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow established procedures.
- Willingness to participate in training and professional development programs.
Experience
- 0–2 years of drafting, engineering support, or related experience.
- Exposure to AV systems, construction drawings, engineering documentation, or technical project environments is preferred but not required.
