Job Description /Roles & Responsibilities

The Technical Lead – C++ Development (Senior Manager) will act as the core technical authority and delivery anchor for our ultra-low-latency engineering pod. This role balances hands-on, high-performance C++ systems programming (roughly 60–70% of the time) with technical mentorship and agile sprint management (30–40%). The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between high-level architectural designs and concrete, microsecond-optimized code implementation.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hands-on Low-Latency Systems Engineering
   • Write, optimize, and maintain high-performance execution engines and market data applications using Modern C++ (C++17/20).
   • Implement deterministic, low-latency programming paradigms, strictly avoiding runtime heap allocations (malloc/new) on the trading hot-path through custom memory pools and placement new.
   • Develop ultra-fast Inter-Process Communication (IPC) frameworks—such as shared memory rings and lock-free circular queues—to pass data across trading components with sub-microsecond overhead.
   • Design highly concurrent, multi-threaded workflows, configuring thread affinity (pthread_setaffinity_np) and optimizing data layouts to prevent CPU cache thrashing and lock contention.
   • Incorporate proprietary template-based architectures or High-Level Template (HTL) constructs to shift computational logic to compile-time.

3. Core Data Engineering & Domain Integration
   • Apply expert-level knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms to engineer optimal custom indexing, sorting, and binary parsing solutions.
   • Design and maintain high-throughput relational tracking databases using MySQL for order logs, risk configurations, and reference data management.
   • Leverage trading domain knowledge to translate complex financial logic (such as order routing, compliance checks, risk management parameters, or exchange protocols like FIX, ITCH, or SBE) into concrete technical implementations.
4. Technical Leadership & Code Governance
   • Lead daily sprint cycles, translate functional specifications into technical tasks, and ensure timely product delivery.
   • Enforce absolute code quality via strict peer code reviews, continuous profiling (using tools like Valgrind, gprof, or Perf), and performance regression benchmarking.
   • Provide daily technical guidance and mentorship to engineers, establishing standardized coding guidelines for the team.

Job Specific Skills

• C++ & Metaprogramming Expertise: Exceptional mastery of systems-level C++, including template metaprogramming, RAII, smart pointers, and strict memory safety.
• Concurrency Mastery: Practical experience writing production-grade, lock-free, atomic, and multi-threaded processing pipelines.
• Low-Latency Infrastructure: Clear understanding of CPU architectures (cache line synchronization, branch predictors) and Linux OS tuning (core isolation, kernel bypass).
• Data Layout & DB Optimization: Advanced ability to optimize algorithms for hardware cache locality and structure complex database queries, indexes, and schemas in MySQL.
• HTL Frameworks: Experience using template libraries or customized HTL concepts to achieve zero-overhead abstractions.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related quantitative stream.
• Experience: 8+ years of professional software development experience in systems programming, with at least 3+ years of experience leading small-to-mid-sized developer teams or pods.
• Domain Advantage: Prior background in High-Frequency Trading (HFT), investment bank execution desks, derivatives risk systems, or market data feeds is highly desirable.
