Position Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for planning, driving, and executing new business acquisition and customer development within the Pharmaceutical segment — covering APIs, PIs, Excipients, and KSMs — in line with the company’s strategic sales and growth objectives.
This is a customer-facing role focused on identifying new opportunities, expanding market presence, converting leads into confirmed orders, and maintaining long-term client relationships. The position demands strong business acumen, proactive outreach, and effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams to achieve revenue goals and customer satisfaction in assigned regions.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business plans to achieve sales targets for pharmaceutical products in assigned large and mid-scale customer segments.
- Identify new business opportunities to increase the company’s market share and manage existing accounts through effective relationship building and strategic planning.
- Collaborate with Product Management and Marketing teams to identify product gaps, develop new offerings, and execute promotional strategies tailored to customer needs.
- Map assigned territories, identify key potential customers, and conduct initial assessments to evaluate viable sales opportunities.
- Respond to RFPs/RFQs, prepare quotations, and manage negotiations directly with customers.
- Maintain updated customer and opportunity data within CRM systems; submit detailed reports including daily visits, weekly plans, and monthly performance summaries.
- Monitor and analyze competitor activities, pricing strategies, and new product launches to provide actionable feedback to leadership.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring a consistent pipeline of opportunities and repeat business.
- Collaborate with other sales team members to share insights, strategies, and best practices that enhance collective performance.
- Identify market trends and formulate actionable strategies to expand presence in the pharmaceutical space.
- Deliver presentations and business proposals to customers, manage project development plans, and ensure timely closures.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure prompt and high-quality customer support.
- Work with Sales, Marketing, and Product Development teams to strengthen positioning as a multi-product and solutions partner across API and pharmaceutical segments.
Education & Qualifications
- Graduate / Postgraduate degree in Pharmacy.
- MBA (Marketing / Business Management) is an added advantage.
Experience Requirements
- 4–6 years of experience in managing portfolios involving APIs, PIs, and Excipients.
- Prior experience in the Pharmaceutical / Life Sciences industry preferred.
