Mackay Marine is a global marine electronics service and sales company that employs over 460 people across 45 service depots in seventeen (17) countries and does business with more than 800 customers worldwide. Mackay is currently seeking a Business Development Manager with sales experience in the marine industry and highly proficient in English for our Mumbai, India location.

Business Development Manager Overview

Under the direction and oversight of the Regional Sales Manager, the Business Development manager is responsible for identifying and developing strategic business relationships with shipping firms and other potential customers in Hong Kong and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Serve as Mackay’s primary account manager for shipping companies which includes traveling to and building business relationships with firms based in Mumbai and other surrounding shipping capitals.
• Develop a pipeline of new business by prospecting for new clients by networking, cold calling, researching, identifying, and meeting potential customers to grow, maintain, and leverage your network.
• Possess thorough knowledge of the market, the solutions/services the company can provide, and the company’s competitors.
• Promote and sell Mackay’s key marine-electronics products, including ship-board service, equipment, parts, and satellite airtime.
• Build relationships with clients through attentive service, facilitating inquiries and ensuring client satisfaction with Mackay services and products.
• Identify opportunities for campaigns, services, and distribution channels that will lead to increased sales.
• Plan sales approaches and use a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate properly.
• Generate and present proposals or quotations that speak to the client’s needs and objectives, conduct follow-ups.
• Help organize and accompany sales visits by Mackay executives.
• Responsible for roughly 75 accounts; submitting monthly sales report; and attending trade shows.

Business Development Manager Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work in India without sponsorship.
• 3+ years of proven Business Development experience in the marine industry.
• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, or related field.
• Technical expertise and experience. A good working knowledge of bridge electronics is preferred.
• Fluency in speaking, reading, and writing in English is required.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Relationship builder and effective communicator. Will interact with many departments and individuals within the company and outside of it in person, or via phone and/or email.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is essential.
• A valid passport is also required.
