Job summary

Addepto is seeking a Business Analyst / Product Owner to join a senior delivery team modernizing a critical aviation platform. You will bridge business needs and technical design, reading Java/Spring code, SQL, and APIs to translate requirements into clear backlog items.

Collaborate with client stakeholders, architects, and engineers to capture As-Is processes, define To-Be solutions, and ensure governance, data flows, and non-functional needs are baked into the delivery.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Analyze the existing solution by reading Java/Spring code, Oracle schemas, PL/SQL, configuration, and data samples to reverse-engineer business rules, validations, message handling, and edge cases.
• Map current operational processes through interviews and artifact review; identify pain points, risks and opportunities.
• Produce As-Is documentation: process maps, integration and data-flow diagrams, and a gap analysis.
• Design To-Be processes for the modernized platform, including monitoring and analytics use cases.
• Define portals and operational tooling: roles, journeys, and functional specs for front-end and API teams.
• Specify data mappings and integration behavior with architects and engineers for clear implementation.
• Define transition scope, cutover procedures, and acceptance criteria.
• Own and prioritize the product backlog with epics and user stories.
• Run workshops and act as main functional contact for client stakeholders.
• Ensure non-functional needs like availability and data protection are reflected in processes.

We are looking for a Business Analyst / Product Owner to join a senior delivery team working on the modernization of a business-critical platform in the aviation industry. This role combines business and systems analysis with product ownership , with a strong focus on understanding the technical side of complex systems, including data, integrations, APIs, and existing business logic. You will work closely with client stakeholders, architects, and engineers to understand existing systems and operational processes, design the target state, and translate business needs into clear requirements and a prioritized delivery backlog.

Your main responsibilities:

• Analyze the existing solution by reading Java/Spring code, Oracle schemas, PL/SQL, configuration, and data samples to reverse-engineer business rules, validations, message handling, and edge cases.
• Map current operational processes (manual and semi-automated) through interviews, shadowing, and artifact review with operations staff; identify pain points, workarounds, and risks.
• Produce As-Is documentation: process maps, integration and data-flow diagrams, business-rule catalogue, and a gap analysis against the existing high-level and technical requirements.
• Design Target (To-Be) processes for the modernized platform, including exception handling, operational monitoring, and reporting/analytics use cases enabled by Databricks.
• Define the portals and operational tooling: user roles, user journeys, screen-level functional specifications, wireframes, and the data and APIs each view depends on.
• Specify business rules, data mappings, and integration behaviour together with architects and engineers, so they can be implemented and tested unambiguously.
• Define functional aspects of the transition: migration scope, parallel run and cutover scenarios, fallback procedures, and business acceptance criteria for switching over.
• Own and prioritize the product backlog: epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and scope trade-offs against the delivery plan.
• Run workshops and act as the main functional point of contact for client stakeholders, including business owners, operations teams, and IT.
• Ensure non-functional business needs such as availability, performance, auditability, and data protection are reflected in processes and portal design.
• Support UAT, accept delivered functionality, and prepare process documentation and user training materials ahead of go-live.

What you'll need to succeed in this role:

• At least 4+ years of commercial experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Systems Analyst, ideally on legacy modernization, migration, or integration projects.
• Proven track record of As-Is / To-Be analysis - reconstructing existing systems and processes, then designing and documenting the target state.
• Ability to read code (ideally Java / Spring) and write SQL (Oracle, PostgreSQL) to understand existing logic, profile data, and verify assumptions - you don't need to build, but you must be able to dig in.
• Strong process-modeling skills (BPMN, swimlanes, data-flow and integration diagrams) and experience documenting business rules and data mappings.
• Experience defining portals / internal tools from the business side: user roles, journeys, wireframes (e.g. Figma, Miro), and functional specs that front-end and API teams can build against.
• Good understanding of modern cloud architectures (ideally Azure), integrations and REST APIs, and data platforms such as Databricks.
• Hands‑on backlog management - writing clear user stories and testable acceptance criteria (Jira / Confluence or equivalent).
• Comfortable working on business-critical, operational systems where downtime and errors have direct real-world impact.
