Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services in Tamil Nadu is seeking an experienced Business Analyst – Tax, Regulatory & Reference Data to translate regulatory changes into system requirements and ensure accurate data mappings and validations across financial services processes.

You will collaborate with Product Owners, Architecture, Engineering and Global Operations in an international, cross-functional setting, contributing to SAFe ceremonies and improving data quality.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of experience in Business Analysis within Financial Services / BFSI.
• Experience in Tax, Regulatory, and Reference Data and strong regulatory knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Analyze tax and regulatory requirements within financial services and map data into mainframe systems.
• Translate business and regulatory requirements into clear functional and non-functional specifications.
• Capture requirements and define clear acceptance criteria for data intake, processing, and distribution.
• Define and maintain rules and logic for data processing and validation.
• Maintain interface specifications in GitLab, manage versioning, support system changes, and handle data backfills.
• Improve data quality through checks on schema and format, validations, reconciliation with source data, deduplication, exception handling, and issue resolution.
• Participate in functional testing, regression testing, and user acceptance testing; run SQL checks and keep audit-ready evidence.
• Collaborate with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering, and Global Operations; contribute to SAFe ceremonies and stakeholder reviews.

What You Will Do

• Analyze tax and regulatory requirements within financial services. Review input data and support the data mapping into our mainframe system
• Translate business and regulatory requirements into clear functional and non functional specifications
• Capture requirements and define clear acceptance criteria for data intake, processing, and distribution
• Define and maintain rules and logic for data processing and validation

What You Bring

Business Analyst – Tax, Regulatory & Reference Data | 5–10 Years

• 5–10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within Financial Services / BFSI, with hands‑on experience in Tax, Regulatory, and Reference Data.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, financial data concepts, reference data, and data models.
• Strong experience in Requirements Engineering, including:
• Functional Specifications
• Non-Functional Specifications
• Business Requirements Documentation
• Ability to define data mappings, data specifications, and business rules.
• Experience working in Agile environments, preferably SAFe.
• Open to working with AI-supported processes; hands‑on experience with AI tools is an added advantage.
• Strong practical knowledge and hands‑on exposure to MiFID and Basel regulations.
• Ability to analyse regulatory rule‑set changes in MiFID and Basel and assess their impact on business processes, data, and applications.
• Experience working closely with Product Owners, Research Teams, Compliance Teams, and Technology Teams to translate regulatory changes into system requirements.
• Hands‑on experience in implementing, testing, and validating regulatory rule‑set changes within applications/systems.
• Strong hands‑on experience with:

• Exposure to AI tools and ability to use AI for analysis, regulatory research, automation, documentation, or productivity enhancement.
• Good understanding of Transaction Reporting and Regulatory Reporting.
• Strong understanding of Reference Data and its role in regulatory reporting and financial systems.
• Ability to analyse regulatory requirements and rule changes, identify system/data impacts, and define appropriate implementation requirements.
• Strong experience in data mapping, data analysis, impact assessment, and requirements documentation.
• Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders across Business, Product, Research, Compliance, and Technology functions.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory and data concepts clearly and effectively.
• Comfortable working in an international, cross‑functional environment with stakeholders across different regions.
• Candidate should have practical, hands‑on exposure to MiFID and Basel, rather than only theoretical knowledge.
• BFSI / Banking / Capital Markets / Financial Services experience is highly preferred.
