Job Summary

SS Software Consultancy is looking for an experienced Business Analyst with 5–7 years of experience in a software/IT company to join our Salem office and work on an MNC project.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in business requirements analysis, functional documentation, stakeholder coordination, Jira, acceptance criteria, backlog refinement, and UAT support.

The candidate will work closely with the Product Manager, Engineering, QA, and business stakeholders to ensure that approved product requirements are clearly translated into development-ready and testable work items.

This role requires a strong understanding of software development processes and the ability to bridge the gap between business/product requirements and engineering execution.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements & Functional Analysis

• Partner with the Product Manager to understand approved PRDs, feature briefs, business outcomes, scope, and success measures.
• Analyse business and functional requirements and translate them into clear, structured, stakeholder-readable functional requirements.
• Work closely with developers to understand the proposed technical solution and engineering task breakdown.
• Review technical solution information, including AI-assisted solution designs, test cases, and automated quality checks, where applicable.
• Translate engineering solutions into functional designs and clear requirement summaries for business and stakeholder review.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Coordinate requirement reviews with the Product Manager and relevant stakeholders.
• Capture stakeholder feedback and maintain the agreed requirements and functional documentation.
• Track requirement review and sign-off status, while ensuring that final approval remains with the appropriate Product/Business stakeholders.
• Clarify requirements and resolve functional questions during development and testing.

Jira & Agile Delivery

• Break approved solution work into meaningful Jira Epics, Stories, and Tasks aligned with engineering implementation and QA/UAT validation.
• Prepare clear and actionable Jira tickets for development and testing teams.
• Define:
  • Acceptance criteria
  • Expected outcomes
  • Dependencies
  • Assumptions
  • Business rules
  • Edge cases
  • Required test scenarios
• Ensure tickets are Development-Ready, QA-Ready, and UAT-Ready before execution begins.
• Support backlog refinement and estimation preparation.
• Assist teams with requirement clarification throughout the development lifecycle.

Traceability & Quality

• Maintain end-to-end traceability from:
  PRD Requirements Solution Design Jira Work Items Test Coverage UAT Outcomes
• Ensure that requirements are complete, consistent, measurable, and testable.
• Identify requirement gaps, ambiguities, dependencies, and potential edge cases before development begins.
• Help reduce clarification cycles and unnecessary engineering meeting overhead through clear documentation and well-defined requirements.

UAT & Release Readiness

• Support the Product Manager in coordinating UAT logistics and stakeholder queries.
• Help ensure that UAT scenarios and expected outcomes are aligned with approved requirements.
• Support release-readiness activities from a requirements and functional perspective.
• Coordinate with Product, Engineering, QA, and stakeholders to address requirement-related issues before release.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–7 years of experience as a Business Analyst in a software/IT company.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Hands-on experience working with Jira, Epics, Stories, Tasks, Acceptance Criteria, and Backlog Refinement.
• Strong experience in requirements gathering, analysis, documentation, and functional specification.
• Ability to translate business/product requirements into clear functional requirements for engineering teams.
• Experience working closely with Product Managers, Developers, QA teams, and business stakeholders.
• Good understanding of software development and technical solution concepts.
• Ability to understand technical discussions and convert them into stakeholder-friendly functional documentation.
• Strong knowledge of UAT processes, test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and traceability.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to identify gaps, dependencies, assumptions, and edge cases.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment is preferred.

Good to Have

• Experience working on MNC/client-facing software projects.
• Experience in enterprise software products or complex web applications.
• Familiarity with API, database, integration, and system-level concepts.
• Experience working with distributed development and QA teams.
• Exposure to AI-assisted software development, AI-generated solution designs, or automated quality checks will be an advantage.

Role Boundaries

The Business Analyst will focus on requirements analysis, functional clarity, traceability, Jira readiness, stakeholder coordination, and UAT support.

The role does not own:

• Product vision, roadmap, prioritization, or final product scope.
• Final business or stakeholder approval.
• Architecture, coding, or technical implementation decisions.
• QA execution or final UAT approval.
• Release, deployment, CAB, or production operations.
• Production support, maintenance, or incident management.
• Budget, delivery commitments, or scope decisions without Product and Engineering agreement.

The BA will work as a key coordination point between Product, Engineering, QA, and Business Stakeholders, without replacing the responsibilities of the Product Manager, Engineering Lead, QA Lead, or Scrum Master.

Key Success Measures

Success in this role will be measured by the ability to:

• Improve the quality and completeness of Jira requirements.
• Reduce requirement clarification cycles during development.
• Improve traceability from approved product requirements to delivered functionality.
• Reduce unnecessary engineering meeting overhead.
• Ensure development and QA teams have clear, actionable, and testable requirements.
• Improve alignment between approved product outcomes and delivered functionality.
• Support smooth UAT and release-readiness activities.
