CDM Smith is seeking a CAD Drafter in Chennai to prepare basic to moderately complex engineering drawings under direct supervision. The role involves creating general arrangement drawings, layouts, and conceptual designs from intelligent models and CADD data, with support from vendors and technical manuals.

You will verify model integrity, plot drawings, prepare transmittals, and assist with field assignments as required. Travel frequency may depend on project needs and workload.

Job Description

• Under direct supervision, prepares basic to moderately complex engineering and construction drawings derived from intelligent models and/or CADD, which include: general arrangement drawing, overall layouts, conceptual drawings, rough sketches, general engineering and design information.
• Utilizes information from vendors, catalogs, technical manuals, etc.
• in the preparation of intelligent models and construction drawings.
• Performs related fundamental technical support tasks such as verifying intelligent model integrity, plotting drawings, preparing transmittals, preparing overnight packages, file management and/or filing prints, distributing drawings, and making simple calculations.
• Performs other duties as required.
• Supports field assignments as required.

Skills & Abilities

Good communication skills and attention to detail required. Ability to be a team player. Possesses working knowledge of core CADD/intelligent modeling applications. Experience using basic Microsoft Office for design related tasks primarily within the CADD/intelligent modeling environment.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and intelligent modeling. 2 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Additional Pay Range Information

CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate’s salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.

Additional Compensation

All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
