Job Description
The Mechanical / Process BIM Modeler is expected to perform a variety of design, 3D modelling, and drafting activities including preparing and updating 2D plans and sections, 3D equipment modelling, pipeline modelling and layout, orthographic generation, isometric extraction, and converting point cloud scans to BIM.
- Produce 3D deliverables from point‑cloud data and LiDAR using Revit.
- Produce 3D existing‑conditions models with exceptional detail and accuracy.
- Utilise AutoCAD, Revit, and related software.
- Apply knowledge of AEC disciplines, MEP, architectural and structural standards.
- Set up models for production and optimise Revit modelling workflows.
- Ensure model accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
- Have experience in WTP/WWTP or industrial plants.
- Maintain 4 years of experience in point‑cloud data conversions.
- Produce high‑quality 3D BIM models in Revit.
- Use various CAD modelling/design techniques per CDM Smith CADD and client standards.
- Work independently within a project team with occasional direct guidance.
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, architects and clients to convert information into layout designs, drawings, and models using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Decipher information from various formats (sketches, BIM Execution Plans, architectural drawings, etc.).
- Have experience in infrastructure, especially WTP‑WWTP/industrial projects (a plus).
- Be able to work in an international environment.
- Demonstrate strong understanding of delivering LOD 200 to 400 BIM models using any BIM software.
- Knowledge of Plant 3D, Civil 3D, and BIM 360 is advantageous.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Engineering with vocational technical training in CAD/CAM modelling technology and 3D modelling technology with 8+ years of related experience (or equivalent).
- Strong working knowledge of core 3D CAD applications.
- Proficient knowledge in handling Revit and other BIM tools; able to produce plans, sections, elevations, details, and schedules; familiar with all Revit tools and advanced features such as view range, drafting views, view templates, system families, materials, parameters, schedules, title blocks, worksets, and annotation families.
- Capable of performing clash detection using Navisworks and Revit interference check, exporting and reviewing clash reports.
- Create dynamic blocks with parameters.
- Use different 3D representations such as shading and conceptual.
- Export 3D geometry for use by subcontractors and external agencies.
- Assist in producing 2D sheets (plans, sections, 3D clips, and details) from 3D/4D multi‑discipline models under supervision of senior 3D modelling staff.
- Complete other duties as assigned appropriate for the designated grade level.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or diploma in Engineering.
- Experience with architectural, structural, and mechanical drawings, developing equipment layout, and site‑plan drawings.
- Experience leading modelling tasks and coordinating with clients to achieve deliverables on schedule and budget.
