Job summary

V Support Solutions in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu seeks a Bending Operator to set up and run CNC/NC press brake machines for sheet metal components, ensuring dimensional accuracy and on-time production. You will read engineering drawings, select tooling, set bend angles, tonnage, back gauge, and monitor quality while maintaining 5S and safety standards.

2–5 years’ experience preferred; ITI/ Diploma in mechanical is preferred.

Qualifications

• ITI or Diploma in Mechanical is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with CNC/NC press brakes and sheet metal bending.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up CNC/NC press brake machines for various components.
• Select and install punches, dies and tooling per job requirements.
• Configure bend parameters: bend angle, sequence, back gauge, tonnage and material thickness.
• Read drawings and perform first-piece inspection for dimensional accuracy.
• Identify bending defects and coordinate with Production/Quality/Maintenance to resolve issues.

Job Title: Bending Operator / Bending Setter

Job Purpose

To set up and operate CNC/NC press brake bending machines for sheet metal components as per approved drawings and production requirements, ensuring dimensional accuracy, quality, and timely production.

Key Responsibilities

1. 1.Set up CNC/NC Press Brake machines for different sheet metal components.
2. 2.Select and install appropriate punches, dies, and tooling according to component requirements.
3. 3.Set machine parameters such as:
   • 1.Bend angle
   • 2.Bend sequence
   • 3.Back gauge position
   • 4.Tonnage
   • 5.Material thickness
4. 4.Read and understand engineering drawings, bending drawings, and work instructions.
5. 5.Perform first-piece inspection and ensure components meet specified dimensions and tolerances.
6. 6.Calculate and verify bend allowance, bend deduction, and bending sequence where required.
7. 7.Operate machines safely and maintain required production output.
8. 8.Identify and rectify common bending defects such as:
   • 1.Incorrect bend angle
   • 2.Dimension variation
   • 3.Cracking
   • 4.Deformation
   • 5.Tool marks
9. 9.Coordinate with the Production, Quality, and Maintenance teams to resolve process-related issues.
10. 10.Monitor machine and tooling condition and report abnormalities to the concerned supervisor.
11. 11.Maintain proper housekeeping and follow 5S, safety, and company procedures.
12. 12.Record production and quality-related information as required.
13. 13.Minimize material wastage, rework, and rejection through proper machine setting.
14. 14.Support new component trials and process improvements.
15. 15.Train or guide machine operators on correct machine operation and bending procedures when required.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of CNC/NC Press Brake machines
• Knowledge of bending tools and tooling selection
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, and Angle Gauge
• Understanding of sheet metal bending processes
• Knowledge of bend allowance and bend deduction
• Ability to identify and correct bending defects
• Basic knowledge of CNC control panels and program selection/editing
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Knowledge of workplace safety and 5S

Preferred Experience

• Experience in sheet metal fabrication / press brake bending
• Experience with CNC Press Brake machines
• Experience in setting machines for different component sizes and materials
• Experience with materials such as MS, SS, Aluminium, and GI sheets is preferred.
