Job summary

ProCharting Pvt Ltd (India) seeks a senior backend QA automation engineer to build a fresh test framework for real-time market-data systems. You will own API testing across REST, WebSocket, and gRPC, guard backend/frontend contracts, and drive CI/CD gates.

GoCharting is a web-native charting and trading workflow platform with institutional-grade orderflow and DOM tools — footprint/cluster charts, volume/market profile, cumulative delta, imbalance charts, DOM trading. We are the only platform that delivers these capabilities fully on the web. Comparable to TradingView for general charting, but differentiated as the leader in the professional orderflow niche. The Role

Real-time market data is the bloodline of this business. When a feed drops, delays, or drifts, we have to know before our traders do — and today, detection still relies on human eyes. Your mission is to make that impossible: customers and a human watcher must never be our alerting system. And market data is the sharpest edge of a broader mandate: every backend API and data flow in the platform is yours to prove correct.

This is a senior, hands-on backend role to build our automated quality safety net from the ground up: a test-automation framework covering every backend API — the market-data surfaces and the full backend frontend product surface the terminal and dashboard depend on — real-time validation of market-data quality (drops, lag, gaps, accuracy), and the metrics, dashboards, and alerting that catch problems in seconds instead of hours. You will work in tandem with our market-data backend engineer — they build and fix the feeds; you prove them correct and catch them when they break. You report to the CTO inside Core Platform Engineering.

In year one, success looks like: every feed incident detected by your system before a user reports it, an automated API and pipeline test suite gating backend releases across the whole service fleet, and the manual data-watch fully retired.

What you’ll do

• Build and own the backend test-automation framework from scratch — REST, gRPC, and WebSocket API testing, contract checks, and pipeline validation across our entire Go service fleet, market-data surfaces first
• Guard the backend frontend contract — automated regression coverage of the internal endpoints and data flows the terminal and dashboard depend on (auth, accounts, entitlements, alerts, layouts, symbols), so a backend change can never silently break the product
• Build real-time market-data quality validation — automated detection of feed drops, latency/lag versus exchange time, tick and bar gaps, price/OHLC accuracy, and cross-region consistency
• Stand up observability and alerting for the data platform — metrics, dashboards, and actionable alerts routed to the right people, replacing manual monitoring with a system that never blinks
• Wire the suite into CI — fast feedback, release gating on backend merges, and clear failure signals engineers trust
• Load- and performance-test the real-time path — WebSocket fan-out, historical queries, and pipeline throughput under realistic market load
• Turn every incident into a permanent check — work with the market-data engineer to root-cause feed issues and encode each one into the automated net so it can never surprise us twice
• Define and report the quality signals — detection time, coverage, alert precision — and keep the system honest

What we’re looking for

Must-haves:

• 5–8 years in backend QA automation / SDET or backend engineering with deep test ownership, having built test frameworks or quality systems from scratch
• Strong Go — our entire server fleet is Go; you read production code and write real, maintainable tooling against it
• Deep API test automation — REST, WebSocket, and ideally gRPC; contract testing; integration testing against third-party APIs
• Observability experience — you have instrumented services with Prometheus-class metrics, built dashboards, and designed alerts people actually trust (low noise, high signal)
• Distributed-systems debugging instinct — comfortable reasoning about pipelines, queues, caches, and race conditions across services
• Own it and run from day one — high autonomy, comfortable defining strategy in a lean team working directly with the CTO

Nice-to-haves:

• Trading, fintech, or market-data domain — validating correctness of prices, ticks, OHLC, and order book data
• Performance and load testing (k6, Locust, JMeter) for WebSocket / streaming systems
• CI/CD pipeline ownership — GitHub Actions or similar, built from scratch
• Familiarity with Indian (NSE/MCX/SEBI) or US (CME) market structure
• Top-tier Indian institution (IIT/NIT/IIM) — nice-to-have, not a gate
