Job summary

GoCharting is seeking a senior QA automation engineer to own and build the test automation framework across the real-time trading platform, including the terminal, monorepo, and APIs. You will wire tests into CI/CD and drive coverage for data accuracy and system reliability.

You will report to the CTO and work closely with the engineering team to ship fast with confidence. This role is in Chennai, India, and requires in-person presence.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years in QA automation or SDET, with hands-on framework ownership.
• Strong coding ability in TS/JS/Python/Go for maintainable automation.
• Deep experience with modern automation tools (Playwright/Cypress/Selenium).
• CI/CD integration experience (GitHub Actions or similar).
• Experience testing complex, real-time data-dense web apps.
• Self-starter with ownership and day-one impact.
• In-person in Chennai office.

Responsibilities

We are the only platform that delivers these capabilities fully on the web. Comparable to TradingView for general charting, but differentiated as the leader in the professional orderflow niche. PE-acquired and funded in 2025, profitable, 3M+ registered traders globally, with a mandate to scale 10x over 4 years.

The Role

We have more roadmap than capacity and a mandate to scale 10x - which means we have to ship faster without ever letting data accuracy or reliability slip. That safety net is automated testing, and right now it needs an owner.

This is a senior, hands-on role to build and own test automation from the ground up across a real-time, data-dense trading platform - the terminal, the product monorepo, the charting SDK, and the backend APIs. You will own the framework, wire it into CI, and build the coverage that lets the whole team move fast with confidence. You report to the CEO inside Client Engineering and act as a force-multiplier for every engineer on the team.

In year one, success looks like a trusted, low-flake automation suite gating every release, meaningful coverage of our real-time and data-accuracy risks, and an engineering team that ships faster because the tests have their back.

What you'll do

• Build and own the test automation framework and strategy - across the terminal, product monorepo, charting SDK, and backend APIs, from scratch
• Automate the hard stuff - real-time / WebSocket flows, canvas and visualization-heavy UIs, and market-data correctness checks on prices, bars, and symbols
• Own end-to-end, integration, and API / contract test automation - and build suites that are fast and genuinely non-flaky
• Wire tests into CI/CD - fast feedback, gating on merges and releases, and clear, actionable failure signals
• Build data-accuracy and feed-reliability regression harnesses - the automated safety net around our single biggest risk
• Set standards and enable the team - patterns, tooling, and a culture where engineers write and trust their tests
• Measure and drive quality signals - coverage, stability, and flakiness - and keep the suite honest

What we're looking for

Must-haves:

• 5-8 years in QA automation or SDET, having built and owned automation frameworks from scratch
• Strong coding ability (e.g. TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or Go) - you write real, maintainable automation code, not just scripts
• Deep with modern automation tooling - Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium for web, plus API/contract testing (REST and WebSocket)
• CI/CD integration experience - GitHub Actions or similar, with release gating and fast feedback
• Experience automating complex, stateful, real-time or data-dense web applications
• Own it and run from day one - high autonomy, comfortable defining strategy in a lean team working directly with the CTO
• In-person in our Chennai office

Nice-to-haves:

• Trading, fintech, or market-data domain - testing correctness of prices, ticks, OHLC, and order book data
• Performance and load testing (k6, JMeter) for real-time / WebSocket systems
• Testing canvas / D3 / WebGL or other visualization-heavy frontends
• Contract testing and mocking for third-party broker and exchange integrations
• Monorepo test tooling (Nx) at scale
• Familiarity with Indian (NSE/MCX/SEBI) or US (CME) market structure
• Top-tier Indian institution (IIT/NIT/IIM) - nice-to-have, not a gate
