Qualifications

• 5–8 years of professional backend engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on Python development with exposure to Node.js/TypeScript.
• Experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, MQTT, or similar messaging systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Develop and maintain REST APIs, microservices, and distributed backend systems.
• Build serverless apps using AWS Lambda or Azure Functions with event-driven architectures.
• Own and extend the integration platform for device onboarding across multiple vendor ecosystems.
• Design and maintain event-driven architectures processing high-volume device events (10K+ events/sec).
• Build microservices for device state synchronization with low latency communication.
• Develop voice platform integrations for device discovery and control.
• Implement OAuth 2.0-based account linking and token lifecycle management.
• Build scalable backend APIs for real-time dashboards showing device telemetry.

Python Backend Engineer — Event-Driven Microservices (AWS/Kafka)

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to own and evolve a core integration platform. The role involves designing, building, and scaling event-driven microservices that enable seamless communication between an IoT platform and multiple third-party vendor ecosystems, while driving technical decisions and working closely with product and architecture teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable cloud-native applications on AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Develop and maintain REST APIs, microservices, and distributed backend systems
• Build serverless applications using AWS Lambda or Azure Functions with event-driven architectures
• Own and extend the integration platform, enabling device onboarding across multiple third-party vendor ecosystems
• Design and maintain event-driven architectures processing high-volume device events (10K+ events/sec) via Kafka, MQTT, and cloud messaging services
• Build microservices for device state synchronization ensuring low-latency, reliable communication

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of professional backend engineering experience
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python (primary backend language); exposure to Node.js with TypeScript a plus
• Experience with event-driven architecture using Kafka, MQTT, or similar messaging systems
• Solid experience with RESTful API design and scalable microservices
• Hands-on experience with AWS (ECS, Lambda, S3, CodePipeline) or GCP (App Engine, Cloud Run)
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, JWT, and secure authentication flows
• Proficiency with Docker and containerized deployments
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or AWS CodePipeline)

Candidate Profile

• Excellent problem-solving skills with ability to debug complex production issues across distributed services
• Experience with IoT protocols (MQTT) and IoT platforms preferred
• Familiarity with cloud messaging services (Pub/Sub, Event Hub, SNS/SQS) preferred
• Experience with voice assistant integrations preferred
• Kubernetes-based deployment experience preferred
