Job summary

Finlabs India Pvt Ltd is seeking an experienced Backend Developer – Node.js to join our IT team in Pan India. You will work on scalable backend services, design REST APIs, and ensure database design and performance with PostgreSQL.

The role requires 4–5 years of hands-on experience, strong expertise in Node.js/JavaScript, and collaboration with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment. Knowledge of ORM tools like Sequelize or Prisma is a plus.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) and asynchronous programming.
• Experience building scalable REST APIs and using PostgreSQL.
• Familiarity with ORMs such as Sequelize or Prisma.
• Understanding of authentication/authorization using JWT and OAuth.
• Experience with API testing tools like Postman.
• Proficient with Git and standard branching strategies.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and SDLC practices.
• Knowledge of CI/CD concepts is a plus.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Backend Developer – Node.js with 4–5 years of hands‑on experience in backend application development. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Node.js and JavaScript, experience building scalable REST APIs, and a solid understanding of PostgreSQL databases.

The candidate will work closely with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain reliable backend services while following industry best practices, coding standards, and Agile development methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend applications using Node.js.
• Build and maintain robust RESTful APIs for web and application-based solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and efficient code following established coding standards.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases, including database design, SQL queries, indexing, and performance optimization.
• Use ORM libraries such as Sequelize, Prisma, or similar tools for efficient database interaction.
• Implement and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms using technologies such as JWT and OAuth.
• Perform API testing and debugging using tools such as Postman.
• Use Git and standard branching strategies for source code management.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to secure coding practices and development standards.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.
• Participate in application deployment and release processes.
• Implement effective logging, monitoring, and debugging practices to ensure application reliability.
• Follow Agile/Scrum methodologies and contribute to sprint planning, stand‑ups, reviews, and retrospectives.

Required Technical Skills

• 4–5 years of professional experience in backend development using Node.js.
• Strong knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+) and asynchronous programming concepts.
• Hands‑on experience developing and integrating REST APIs.
• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL, including:

  • SQL queries
  • Indexing
  • Query and performance optimization
• Experience with ORM libraries such as Sequelize, Prisma, or similar.
• Good understanding of Git and standard branching strategies.
• Experience or understanding of application deployment and release processes.
• Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman.
• Basic understanding of authentication and authorization, including JWT and OAuth.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, troubleshooting, and debugging techniques.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts is an added advantage.

Process & Development Practices

• Good understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Experience working within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Knowledge of coding standards, clean code practices, and software development best practices.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and code review processes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and practices is an advantage.
• Experience using Jira or similar issue-tracking and project management tools.
