Job summary

Finlabs India Pvt Ltd is seeking a backend developer to design, build, test, and maintain scalable services using Node.js. You will work with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to deliver robust RESTful APIs and reliable data access.

The role emphasizes clean code, performance optimization with PostgreSQL, and integration with ORM tools like Sequelize or Prisma. You will collaborate with frontend, QA, and product teams, participate in deployments, and uphold security practices.

Qualifications

• 4–5 years of professional backend development experience with Node.js.
• Hands-on experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills: design, SQL queries, indexing, and optimization.
• Experience with ORM libraries such as Sequelize or Prisma.
• Good understanding of Git and branching strategies.
• Experience or understanding of deployment and release processes.
• Knowledge of API testing tools such as Postman.
• Basic understanding of authentication and authorization including JWT and OAuth.
• Familiarity with logging, monitoring, troubleshooting and debugging practices.
• Understanding of CI/CD concepts is a plus.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and high-performance backend applications using Node.js.
• Build and maintain robust RESTful APIs for web and application-based solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, reusable, and efficient code following established coding standards.
• Work with PostgreSQL databases, including database design, SQL queries, indexing, and performance optimization.
• Use ORM libraries such as Sequelize, Prisma, or similar tools for efficient database interaction.
• Implement and maintain authentication and authorization mechanisms using technologies such as JWT and OAuth.
• Perform API testing and debugging using tools such as Postman.
• Use Git and standard branching strategies for source code management.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to secure coding practices and development standards.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, QA engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software.

Required Technical Skills

• 4–5 years of professional experience in backend development using Node.js.

• Understanding of secure coding practices and code review processes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and practices is an advantage.
