Job summary

Weekday AI (YC W21) is seeking an experienced Data Migration Lead to orchestrate end-to-end migration of Azure Synapse Analytics to Microsoft Fabric in India. The role requires hands-on expertise in SQL Server, Azure Data Factory, Databricks and ADLS Gen2, with strong data governance and observability skills.

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on experience migrating Azure Synapse Analytics to Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong proficiency in SQL Server and T-SQL.
• Expertise with Azure Data Factory for ETL pipeline development.
• Experience with ADLS Gen2 and CosmosDB for data modeling/integration.
• Proficient in Python for data engineering tasks and in Databricks for ETL/analytics.
• Familiarity with Purview for data governance and with Azure Monitoring for observability.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end migration of Azure Synapse Analytics environments to Microsoft Fabric with minimal business disruption.
• Develop migration strategies including planning, execution, validation, cutover, and post-migration optimization.
• Build and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks and related ETL tech.
• Design, model, and maintain data warehousing solutions using SQL Server, ADLS Gen2, CosmosDB, and Blob storage.
• Monitor, troubleshoot and tune data integration and analytics performance across migration lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance at all stages.
• Utilize Azure Purview and Azure Monitoring to ensure governance and observability; document architecture and best practices.

JobType: full-time

Experience Range: 7 to 10 years of experience, including substantial hands-on expertise delivering Azure Synapse Analytics to Microsoft Fabric migration projects, with direct involvement in migration planning, execution, validation, performance tuning, cutover, and post-migration optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the end-to-end migration of Azure Synapse Analytics environments to Microsoft Fabric, ensuring seamless transition and minimal business disruption.


• Develop comprehensive migration strategies encompassing planning, execution, validation, cutover, and post-migration optimization.


• Implement and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and related ETL technologies to support migration and ongoing operations.


• Design, model, and maintain modern data warehousing solutions leveraging SQL Server, Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, CosmosDB, and Blob storage.


• Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune the performance of data integration and analytics solutions throughout the migration lifecycle.


• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance across all stages of the migration.


• Utilize Azure Monitoring and Purview to ensure robust governance, lineage, and observability of data assets during and after migration.


• Document architecture, processes, and best practices to support knowledge transfer and operational excellence post-migration.

Required Skills:

• Hands-on experience with Azure Synapse Analytics to Microsoft Fabric migration projects


• Advanced proficiency in SQL Server and T-SQL


• Expertise in Azure Data Factory for ETL pipeline development


• In-depth knowledge of Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2)


• Experience with CosmosDB for data modeling and integration


• Strong skills in Python for data engineering tasks


• Proficiency in Databricks and Stream Analytics


• Experience with Event Hub and Logic App for event-driven data architectures


• Expertise in Microsoft Purview for data governance


• Working knowledge of Azure Monitoring and Data Explorer

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with advanced data orchestration in Microsoft Fabric


• Knowledge of cloud-native data platform architectures


• Expertise in implementing stored procedures for complex data transformation


• Familiarity with large-scale data environment management

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a closely related discipline


• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent certification


• Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or similar certification
