Job summary

Siemens Energy India Limited is seeking an experienced backend engineer to design, develop, and test cloud-based Python and R applications deployed on AWS for gas turbine digital twin solutions.

You will collaborate with domain experts and global teams to derive requirements, implement REST APIs, and ensure robust data integration, testing, and production readiness.

This role offers growth through cross-functional collaboration with North America, Germany and India teams.

Qualifications

• B.E. or B.Tech. in CS or related numerical field.
• 8+ years of software design and Python/R backend development.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Experience with cloud deployments on AWS.
• Experience designing and developing REST APIs.

The AWS backend developer's responsibility is to develop robust cloud-based software application. Your digital twin solutions will improve lifetime and risk assessments of large gas turbine fleets, reduce product development time and hence improve time-to-market and overall product competitiveness.

This position provides growth opportunities through collaboration with domain experts, software architects, technical partners, and universities, based in North America, Germany and India.

How You'll Make an Impact (Gas Turbine, R& D, India)

• Design, develop, and test cloud-based Python/R applications deployed on AWS.
• Collaborate with engineers and technical specialists to derive software requirements, functional specifications, and feasibility analyses.
• Design of software solutions based on requirements and within the constraints of architectural /design guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop and deploy critical production systems.
• Develop software solutions compliant with enterprise architecture, processes, procedures, and protocols.
• Integrating new data sources from the enterprise landscape and developing methods for cleaning meta data and time-series sensor data.
• Implement test automation strategies and adhere to established test guidelines.
• Ensure timely completion of development phases and deliverables.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand business needs and provide data-driven insights and recommendations.

What You Bring

• B.E. or B.Tech. computer science or similar numerical intensive fields.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in software design and Python/R backend development.
• Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar.
• Experience with cloud-based deployment of applications (AWS).
• Experience in designing and developing REST APIs.
• Experience in database technologies, SQL, No-SQL.
• Experience with version control and CI/CD with Git.
• Experience designing and developing Python/R backend.
• Experience with agile software development.
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and an ability to work in a team environment.
• Experience in working in cross-functional global teams and with internal customers.
• Data-driven and results-oriented approach to problem solving.
• Bonus: Work experience in an engineering environment or equivalent technical setting.
• Bonus: Experience with R Shiny for front-end development and backend integration.
