LPL Financial Global Capability Center in Hyderabad is seeking an AVP, Functional Design Cloud Engineer. You will be hands-on in Terraform, driving build-ready specifications and reference patterns within LPL's Cloud Center of Excellence.
This role blends architecture guidance with practical engineering deliverables across multiple pods. You will partner with Enterprise Architecture, Security, and leadership to translate high-level designs into scalable, well-architected constructs.
Functional Design Engineering & Strategy is where Enterprise Architecture intent becomes shippable Terraform. As AVP, Functional Design Cloud Engineer, you'll spend most of your day producing the build-ready engineering designs, reference patterns, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and proof-of-concept code that downstream engineers actually use. You'll partner with the VP, Functional Design Engineering and the Principal Engineer, Cloud Strategy Lead so the path between architecture and shipping is short and well-paved. If you'd rather turn diagrams into pull requests than slides, this is your seat.
As the AVP, Functional Design Cloud Engineer, you are a hands‑on senior cloud engineer in the Functional Design Engineering & Strategy pod within the Foundations team in LPL's Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE). You partner with Enterprise Architecture, Information Security, the VP, Functional Design Engineering, and engineering teams and pods across CCOE to translate enterprise architecture intent into implementable, well‑architected, code‑driven solutions. You take high‑level designs from architects and the VP, Functional Design Engineering and produce detailed, opinionated, build‑ready engineering specifications, reference patterns, Terraform modules, and proof‑of‑concept builds. You also curate sections of the cross‑CCOE reference pattern library — domain‑tagged Terraform module bundles, reference architectures, anti‑patterns, and Architecture Decision Records (ADRs). LPL is an AWS‑first CCOE: a multi‑account landing zone with 100+ private reusable Terraform modules that enable 60+ AWS services, all delivered through Terraform Cloud and GitHub Actions. You spend the majority of your time hands‑on in Terraform code, ADRs, reference patterns, and proof‑of‑concept work across LPL's US offices and India Global Capability Center (GCC). Your impact comes from hands‑on engineering, peer mentorship, and cross‑pod partnership — not from direct reports or positional authority.
