Job summary

LPL Financial Global Capability Center in Hyderabad seeks a hands‑on AVP, Cloud Support Engineer to lead production cloud operations, incident response, and run‑the‑cloud initiatives. You will own complex tickets end‑to‑end and coordinate across Foundations, Platforms, and Delivery pods.

This role partners with internal customers to automate repeatable requests, improve monitoring, and drive operational excellence in a globally distributed team across the US and India GCC.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive technical experience with 5+ years in a senior cloud security or cloud infra role.
• 5+ years of hands‑on production AWS at scale in a multi‑account landing zone.
• Demonstrated experience as a senior IC influencing technical direction and mentoring peers.
• Experience participating in 24x7 production on‑call rotations in regulated environments.
• Proven ability to drive runbook quality, change management, and automation improvements.

Responsibilities

As AVP, Cloud Support Engineer, you're that person — the senior escalation point for LPL's run‑the‑cloud function, taking the hardest tickets and incidents end-to-end and turning recurring toil into automated, self‑service paths. Job Overview

As the AVP, Cloud Support Engineer, you are a hands‑on senior cloud operations engineer in the Support team in LPL's Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE) — the run‑the‑cloud function for LPL's AWS multi‑account landing zone. You are the senior escalation point for the Support team's 24x7 Tier 1 / Tier 2 queue: you take the hardest tickets and production incidents end‑to‑end, own operational excellence, and decide when to pull in the Foundations pods (Security & Governance, FinOps, Functional Design Engineering & Strategy, Network Engineering, Monitoring), Platforms, Containers, or Delivery. You partner closely with the Monitoring pod within Foundations on alerting and runbooks. LPL is an AWS‑first CCOE: a multi‑account landing zone with 100+ private reusable Terraform modules that enable 60+ AWS services, delivered through Terraform Cloud and GitHub Actions. You spend the majority of your time hands‑on in troubleshooting, runbooks, Terraform, and incident response — and you continuously turn repeatable requests into automated, self‑service paths — across LPL's US offices and India Global Capability Center (GCC).

Responsibilities

• Operate as a hands‑on senior cloud support engineer: spend the majority of your time in production troubleshooting, runbook authoring and execution, Terraform changes, complex ticket resolution, and incident response — hands‑on operations is the primary leverage point
• Serve as the senior escalation point for the Support team's Tier 1 / Tier 2 queue: take the hardest tickets and production incidents end‑to‑end, and decide when to pull in the Foundations pods (Security & Governance, FinOps, Functional Design Engineering & Strategy, Network Engineering, Monitoring), Platforms, Containers, or Delivery. Turn recurring toil into durable fixes: convert repeatable account / IAM / access requests and incident classes into self‑service paths through the Account Factory for Terraform (AFT) and the private Terraform module library
• Own operational excellence for the run‑the‑cloud function: runbook quality, change‑management discipline in ServiceNow, post‑incident reviews, and SLA / operational metrics; partner with the Monitoring pod within Foundations to close monitoring and alerting gaps. Embed agentic AI capabilities into the team's engineering practice (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, Bedrock, MCP servers, agentic IaC and review workflows) and into the platform's self‑service experience for internal customers
• Use agentic AI capabilities to raise the run‑the‑cloud bar: AI‑assisted triage and root‑cause analysis, MCP‑driven conversational self‑service for common requests, automated runbook generation, and on‑call copilots that summarize telemetry and chat during incidents
• Personally participate in 24x7 on‑call rotations as a senior technical responder and escalation point for production incidents. Partner with peer engineers, AVPs, and VPs across the Cloud Center of Excellence — the five CCOE teams (Foundations, Platforms, Containers, Support, Delivery) and the five Foundations pods (Security & Governance, FinOps, Functional Design Engineering & Strategy, Network Engineering, Monitoring) — to align roadmaps and remove cross‑team and cross‑pod blockers
• Raise engineering quality across the pod through code review, design partnership, and technical pairing — acting as a force multiplier without direct reports. Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies (sprint planning, standups, backlog grooming, retrospectives) and partner with the RTE and PMO on delivery commitments and dependencies

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive technical experience including 5+ years in a senior cloud security, network security, or cloud infrastructure engineering role; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent work experience)
• 5+ years of hands‑on production AWS at scale in a multi‑account landing zone with strong production Terraform delivered through Terraform Cloud and GitHub Actions
• Demonstrated experience operating as a senior individual contributor (AVP, Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer, or equivalent), influencing technical direction and uplifting peer engineers without direct authority — including code review leadership, design‑review participation, and technical mentorship
• Experience personally participating in 24x7 production on‑call rotations in a fast‑paced, security‑conscious, regulated environment (financial services strongly preferred)
• Demonstrated experience as a senior engineer on a production cloud operations / support function: leading incident response as an escalation point, owning change management (ServiceNow or comparable ITSM), and driving runbook and automation improvements that reduce toil

Preferences

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or MBA. Experience building, scaling, or leading globally distributed engineering teams across the US and India / GCC
• Experience integrating agentic AI / GenAI tooling (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot, Bedrock, MCP) into platform, IaC, and engineering practice. Strong scripting / programming proficiency in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
• AWS Solutions Architect - Professional. AWS Certified Generative AI Developer - Associate. Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD)
• HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate (004) or Authoring & Operations. Open‑source contributions, public technical writing, or conference speaking on cloud, IaC, or platform engineering topics
• Experience with Backstage or another Internal Developer Platform (IDP). Experience with FinOps practices and cloud cost management at scale
