Job summary

Symbiosis Management Consultants in Bengaluru, India seeks an Automotive Cyber Security Lead Engineer Powertrain ECUs to lead cybersecurity across ICE, Hybrid, and Electric powertrain systems. You will protect powertrain functions from cyber threats while ensuring compliance with global automotive cybersecurity regulations.

You will drive secure architectures, OTA security, key management, and integration with safety standards. Mentoring teams and coordinating with suppliers is essential.

Qualifications

• BE/ME in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Automotive, CS or Cyber Security.
• 6–8 years in automotive embedded or powertrain cybersecurity.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity engineering for powertrain ECUs (Engine ECU, VCU, MCU, BMS, HCU, OCDC, etc.)
• Own cybersecurity activities for assigned powertrain programs
• Define and review secure architectures (Secure Boot, Secure Communication, OTA, Key Management)
• Perform and lead TARA as per ISO/SAE 21434
• Define cybersecurity goals, requirements, and mitigations
• Align cybersecurity with Functional Safety (ISO 26262)
• Ensure compliance with UNECE R155 / AIS 189 and UNECE R156 / AIS 190
• Collaborate with system, software, hardware, validation teams, and suppliers
• Lead technical cybersecurity reviews and mentor engineers
• Support vulnerability management, incident response, and postSOP activities
• Powertrain Cyber Security Focus
• Protection of torque, speed, propulsion, charging & energy management
• Secure diagnostics & calibration (UDS)
• Secure production & service software updates

Preferred candidate profile

Required Experience & Skills BE / ME in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Automotive, Computer Science, or Cyber Security 6-8 years in automotive embedded or powertrain systems 36 years of handson automotive cybersecurity experience CAN, CANFD, Automotive Ethernet, UDS Cryptography, PKI, Secure Boot, HSM, Secure Diagnostics OTA/FOTA security & backend interaction Strong leadership, ownership mindset & mentoring skills
