Job Summary

The Technician is responsible for carrying out vehicle inspection, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and servicing in accordance with the manufacturer's standards. The role requires ensuring quality workmanship, timely completion of assigned jobs, and adherence to safety and workshop procedures to deliver a superior customer service experience. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, and basic diagnostic repairs for automobiles.

Key Responsibilities
1. Vehicle Inspection & Diagnosis
  • Perform initial inspection of vehicles to identify mechanical, electrical, and technical issues.
  • Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and manufacturer-recommended procedures.
  • Identify repair requirements and communicate findings to the Service Advisor or Workshop Supervisor.
  • Conduct road tests before and after repairs, when required.
2. Vehicle Repair & Maintenance
  • Perform periodic maintenance services as per manufacturer guidelines.
  • Repair and replace defective mechanical, electrical, and suspension components.
  • Carry out engine, transmission, clutch, brake, steering, and suspension repairs.
  • Perform wheel alignment, balancing, and tyre-related services (where applicable).
  • Ensure repairs are completed within the standard turnaround time.
3. Electrical & Diagnostic Work
  • Diagnose electrical faults using scan tools and testing equipment.
  • Repair vehicle wiring, sensors, lighting systems, and electrical components.
  • Update software or ECU settings where applicable.
  • Assist senior technicians in handling complex diagnostic cases.
4. Preventive Maintenance
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance inspections.
  • Replace consumables such as engine oil, filters, coolant, brake fluid, and lubricants.
  • Check battery condition, belts, hoses, tyres, and other critical components.
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced according to manufacturer schedules.
5. Workshop Operations
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workstation.
  • Use workshop tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of spare parts and tools.
  • Follow workshop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
6. Quality Assurance
  • Perform quality checks before vehicle delivery.
  • Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer quality standards.
  • Minimize repeat repairs through accurate diagnosis and workmanship.
  • Report any additional repair requirements identified during servicing.
7. Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all workplace safety guidelines and PPE requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and manufacturer standards.
  • Handle hazardous materials responsibly.
  • Maintain a safe and accident-free work environment.
8. Documentation
  • Update job cards with repair details and work completed.
  • Record spare parts used during repairs.
  • Maintain service records accurately.
  • Report completed jobs to the Service Advisor or Workshop Supervisor.
